Less worry. More joy. Less wanting. More gratitude. Less resisting. More accepting. Less to-do-ing. More playing. Less talking. More listening. Less take. More give. A recipe for happiness by yours truly xox Sierra 🌻

“If you want to be happy, you have to let go of the part of you that wants to create melodrama. This is the part that thinks there’s a reason not to be happy. You have to transcend the personal, and as you do, you will naturally awaken to the higher aspects of your being. In the end, enjoying life’s experiences is the only rational thing to do. You’re sitting on a planet spinning around in the middle of absolutely nowhere. Go ahead, take a look at reality. You’re floating in empty space in a universe that goes on forever. If you have to be here, at least be happy and enjoy the experience. You’re going to die anyway. Things are going to happen anyway. Why shouldn’t you be happy? You gain nothing by being bothered by life’s events. It doesn’t change the world; you just suffer. There’s always going to be something that can bother you, if you let it.” Excerpt from my very favorite book: Untethered Soul 🤍

One of my goals in life is to never lose that child-like sense of wonder, exploration and adventure. But I’m noticing that as the injuries, to do lists, aches and pains have accumulated I find more and more excuses to play it safe. And sure, the reckless abandon of my youth, missed landings and insatiable need to go, go, go has indeed taken its toll. So while there may not be anymore 30 foot cliffs or double overhead waves in my future, I am committed to a lifetime of unwavering curiosity. And I hope that no matter where life takes me, I will always find myself seeking that familiar place, just outside my comfort zone. 💫 #skitosea #surf #ski

Happy Mother’s Day to my angel in heaven ❤️ hope you and JD are eating cake for breakfast and laughing at the beauty of life. I think you’d be happy to know that I’m looking after the boys and no longer living in my van. I still wear your blazers to meetings and I wanted to thank you for pushing me to be a model. Turns out life is working out pretty good. 🙏🏼❤️ Thank you for all the love and guidance, always.

That feeling when you can lift both your shoulders overhead and neither of them fall out of the socket 🏆😂💪🏼 but in all seriousness I just want to say that I’m counting my blessings right now to be healthy and whole in my body again. I’ve got a life time of shredding waves, mountains and pavement ahead of me and I’m making a promise to give this well-worn body of mine the respect it deserves. I feel like quarantine has given me an opportunity to slow down and realize that life is a marathon and not so much the sprint I’ve been running. Anybody else feel like they’re growing more patient and seeing new perspectives during this shift? 💕 #roadtorecovery #covid19 #healthiswealth

Finding center with rocky footing underneath me. Sometimes I get attached to what I think my life should be like, what I should be doing or accomplishing. The last six month challenged me a lot. A third shoulder surgery right before ski season was not what I had in mind. And so much of my mental salvation was built around a narrative of making a strong come back in March. Then the pandemic happened and it turned all of our lives upside down. This has all taught me an important lesson in non-attachment. Instead of skiing big lines in Alaska I find myself meditating, reading and practicing yoga. Instead of adventuring with friends I’m catching up with long FaceTimes. It’s taken me a moment to find my footing and surrender to what is, instead of longing for what “should of been” - I’m watching my mind let go and find peace in the simpler, slower rhythm of the present. And for these fleeting moment is peace, I am grateful. I hope you are all finding your balance with as much grace as possible xox Sierra

Happy Earth Week! 💙🌎💚 There’s never been a better time to dedicate ourselves to the conservation of this incredible planet. Here’s a few tips to give Mother Nature some love this week. 1. Carry a reusable water bottle 2. Be a conscious consumer. Ask yourself - do I really need this? Is this product going to last? How is it made? Where is it made? What is it made from? What happens to this product once I’m done with it? 3. Eat a meatless meal, Go meatless Monday or even try a week! 4. Walk, ride a bike or carpool. 5. Get involved with an Environmental Organization that speaks to your passion - my favorite are @protectourwinters & @plasticfreefridays What’s one thing you’re going to dedicate to shifting in your lifestyle to help the planet? 🙋🏼‍♀️ I’m going to start composting this week! 🥬🥕🥦 #earthweek #earthday #forabetterworld

A quiet moment in to the depths of self exploration. Uncertain? yes. Scary? at times. But I never was one for hiding in the safety of the shallows. So here we go. In to the depths to explore the unknown spaces of stillness. Committed. Curious. And fully present. 🤍 love to you all xox

Happy Birthday to one of the most extraordinary humans I know - Ms. Meggers!!!!! Ugh, where do I even start? You’ve taught me to be a better friend, to operate from the heart, to be more kind, more patient and more loving. Even though you drive my cranky ass crazy in the mornings I love the way that you wake up every day like it’s Christmas - full of excitement, wonder and eager to take on the day. As a professional and photographer - your ability to sleep in a tent at 10,000 feet, shit your brains out and still get up at dawn, climb mountains and nail the shot (again, like it’s Christmas morning ) is unbelievable and so admirable. The way you care for everyone around you, humanity at large and the greater good of this planet is so sincere and noble. Thanks for being the sister that I always wanted Meg. I hope your day is as bright and beautiful as every cell of your being. Keep shining bright my dear because the world needs more Meggers. I love you so much 💕

Meditating on our interconnectedness. This pandemic has reminded us that the actions of one effect the whole. For so long we’ve operated for “i” and forgotten that we are not separate or superior to one another but totally interconnected and merely one part of a completely interdependent ecosystem. It’s time for a important and necessary shift. It’s a moment to recognize that our self obsessive thinking is actually the root of so much suffering and disconnect. Taking a moment to sit with my personal privilege and also acknowledge that there are so many of you who are being disproportionately and devastatingly effected by this pandemic. My heart is with you. And my most sincere, heartfelt gratitude to all of the health care practitioners, janitors, public servants and anyone who’s not able to stay home, but at the front lines of this pandemic. Thank you. Sending all of you hugs and love during these challenging times. Take care of yourself, take care of eachother, stay positive and help where you can. All my love, Sierra

Quick, easy, no-equipment, no excuses home workout! 👊🏼🖤💪🏼 Let’s keep those good endorphins flowing! All you need is a timer - set it to 45 seconds and on the beep switch exercises. Once you finish all 10 - rest for 1 minute and repeat 2-3 times! You’ll work up a sweat and feel great in just 15 minutes. 1. SUMO SQUATS - keep your heels grounded, core tight and drop that booty low 2. FORWARD LUNGES - LEFT SIDE - hands on hips, core tight and focus on slow and controlled movement 3. FORWARD LUNGES - RIGHT SIDE - alternate legs 4. HIGH PLANK - knees lifted, core tight, pushing through arms, extend head to tailbone. Hold 5. HIGH PLANK - KNEE TO ELBOW - maintain your tight, low plank as you bring your right knee to right elbow then left elbow, alternate legs 6. CURTSY LUNGES - keep your upper body tall as you alternate backward lunges at 45 degrees 7. LATERAL LUNGES - LEFT SIDE - extend left leg out laterally, tap down and explode back up and pause for a moment 8. LATERAL LUNGES - RIGHT SIDE - switch legs and repeat 9. SQUAT JUMPS - alternate tapping left and ride hand as you jump squat 10. AIR PUNCHES - like you’re destroying COVID-19 for the end of time! Love you guys! Let me know how it goes. I want to see you all looking after your physical and mental health during these challenging times. Tag a friend you want to do this workout with! 👊🏼🖤💪🏼 #homeworkout #stayhome #stayhealthy #staystrong

It’s a good time to go inside. And I don’t just mean to stay indoors, but also to explore the depths of yourself. To slow down, get quiet and see what’s really underneath that busy, busy, go, go lifestyle. It can be scary at first. There may be some things you’ve been running from and there may be some things you need to process. But if you can commit to sitting with yourself and truly being present to your experience - wow - the magic begins. And maybe you’ll realize that this simpler, slower pace of life isn’t so bad after all. Maybe you’ll have an opportunity to learn something about yourself. Maybe you’ll decide it’s time to weed your garden and plant the seeds that truly resonate with your soul. Maybe this is an opportunity to reinvent yourself. To let go of what doesn’t make your heart sing. To live more in alignment with what you know is your personal truth and also what is best for humanity at large. Maybe this is the moment that the whole world wakes up and realizes that each one of us is indeed the one the world has been waiting for. 💕 #stayinghome #meditation #ramblings #wakingup

And suddenly we drift in to the unknown. It’s okay to feel uncomfortable and even scared. I won’t for a moment pretend this is going to be easy, but what I do know is that YOU ARE SO INCREDIBLY STRONG. You are not only adaptable, resilient and persistent but you are also capable of thriving in the face of adversity. If, like me, you are riding a roller coaster of emotions and could use a few tips to recenter and stay grounded I’d like to not only offer you these suggestions but also ask that you please contribute by sharing one below. 1. There could not be a better time to start a meditation practice. Download @calm or @headspace or simply google ‘guided meditation’ 2. Create a positive mantra that you repeat to yourself throughout the day. ‘This too shall pass’ and ‘I choose love over fear’ are a couple that are resonating with me right now 3. Exercise!! Even 30 minutes a day of gentle yoga or a quick body weight workout will get all those good endorphins flowing and help lift the mood. 4. Wake up each morning and write down three things that you are grateful for - this is a super simple, game changing practice. 5. This is a beautiful time to finally write that book, reorganize your closet, facetime with your loved ones and do all of the special things we don’t usually have time for. 6. Love is free, totally abundant and limitless. ❤️
