Andromeda constellation is located in the northern sky, between Cassiopeia’s W asterism and the Great Square of Pegasus. The constellation was named after the mythical princess Andromeda, the wife of the Greek hero Perseus. It is also known as the Chained Maiden, Persea (wife of Perseus ), or Cepheis (daughter of Cepheus ). Andromeda constellation contains the famous Andromeda Galaxy. Andromeda is the 19th largest constellation in the sky. The brightest star in the constellation is Alpheratz. Andromeda constellation has a number of stars with confirmed exoplanets. Titawin has four planets in its orbit. In Greek mythology, Andromeda was the daughter of King Cepheus of Ethiopia and Queen Cassiopeia, who offended the Nereids (sea nymphs ) by claiming she was more beautiful than they were. The nymphs complained to the sea god Poseidon and he sent a sea monster, Cetus, to flood and destroy Cepheus’ lands as punishment for his wife’s boastfulness. The king was told that the only way to appease the gods and nymphs was to sacrifice his daughter to Cetus. Subsequently, Andromeda was chained to a rock and would have been left to the monster if Perseus had not come along and saved her. The goddess Athena commemorated the princess Andromeda by placing her image among the stars, next to the constellations representing her husband Perseus and mother Cassiopeia. . . . . . #canonphotography #astrology #astrophotography #skyphotography #skyporn #constellations #star #stars #starrysky #greekmythology #andromeda #nightphotography #nightsky #passion #photography #photooftheday #igers

Staring at the moon at its fullest, I realize there is a very strong yet secret intimacy between us. As if deep down we are closely related and share a bond that's known to none. It seems like we are miles apart yet inseparable. There is this strong force that seems to attracting me towards it, just like the tides of the sea bulge out and struggle to touch the moon. This strange force is so strong that it would hold my gaze till eternity not having the heart to pull it away. And during these strangely intimate moments, it seems that there has been a silent exchange of enormous secrets, thoughts and emotions. And yet there is a lot to discover and I can't help wondering what is so special about this huge ball emitting light so strong that it eliminates darkness from the entire world, that I feel so strongly connected to it. Cygnus derives its name from the Latinized Greek word for swan.Cygnus is one of the most recognizable constellations. Cygnus is also known as the Northern Cross. Cygnus contains Deneb – which is one of the brightest stars in the night sky. The Greeks associated this constellation with the tragic story of Phaethon, the son of Helios the sun god, who demanded to ride his father's sun chariot for a day. Phaethon, however, was unable to control the reins, forcing Zeus to destroy the chariot (and Phaethon ) with a thunderbolt, causing it to plummet to the earth into the river Eridanus. According to the myth, Phaethon's close friend Cygnus, grieved bitterly and spent many days diving into the river to collect Phaethon's bones to give him a proper burial. The gods were so touched by Cygnus's devotion that they turned him into a swan and placed him among the stars. . . . . . #canonphotography #canon #canonusa #canonasia #canonpakistan #canonpakistanofficial #canon6d #canon50mm #sky #skyphotography #skyporn #star #starsigns #constellation #cygnusconstellation #cygnus #astrophotography #northerncross #greekmythology #instadaily #instagram

On 21 Ramazan, I asked my friends @elyasjunaid and @jawadjee4433 to go on a long drive away from the city. As it was an Odd Night, we kept our prayer mats along. I also took my camera. We drove about 25 kms away from the city center. We offered our prayers in the serenity and solace. And then a friend of mine asked me to take out the camera and capture something. We started taking pictures and while doing it, we were discussing constellations and other cosmic stuff. Today when I transfered the data and looked at the pictures it was there. We didn’t see it with naked eye but the camera lens did see it. . . . . . #canonphotography #canon #canonusa #canoneosr #canon6d #canonasia #canonshot #canonpakistan #igdaily #igers #igtravel #iger_pakistan #igaddict #igmasters #astro #astrophotography #milkyway #instadaily #skyporn #skyphotography #skyline #galaxy #photography #pakistan_pics

Auriga is a beautiful pentagonal constellation that is almost circumpolar, making it visible most of the year round from the northern hemisphere, but best seen during autumn and winter. Auriga also seems to be attached to the northern horn of Taurus the Bull. The name Auriga is derived from Latin, and means “the charioteer”. Auriga is associated with many characters out of Greek mythology, the foremost of which is the mythological hero Erichthonius of Athens, the son of Hephaestus who was raised by the goddess Athena. Erichthonius was generally credited as being the inventor of the quadriga (the four-horse chariot ) which Erichthonius used in the battle that made him king of Athens. In honor of his ingenuity and heroic deeds, Zeus raised him into the heavens, where he rode a chariot resembling the Sun’s chariot. Auriga’s brightest star is Capella, which also happens to be the sixth brightest star in the night sky. It is the 21st largest constellation in the night sky. It contains number of fine star clusters, including M36, M37 and M38. . . . . . #canonphotography #canon #canonusa #canon6d #canon50mm #canonasia #canonindia #canonpakistan #astrology #astrophotography #astronomy #astrophysics #skyphotography #skyporn #stars #starboy #stargazer #constellations #constellation #auriga #capella #greekmythology #zeus #igdaily #igers #pollutionfree

Canis Major is a constellation in the southern sky. Its name means “the greater dog” in Latin. It is commonly represented as following the constellation of Orion the hunter through the sky. The Milky Way passes through Canis Major. Canis Major contains Sirius, the brightest star in the night sky, known as the "dog star". It is bright because of its proximity to the Solar System. Adhara is the second-brightest star of the constellation and the brightest source of extreme ultraviolet radiation in the night sky. In Greek Mythology, Canis Major represented the dog Laelaps, a gift from Zeus to Europa; so famed for its speed that Zeus elevated it to the sky. It was also considered to represent one of Orion's hunting dogs, pursuing Lepus the Hare or helping Orion fight Taurus the Bull. . . . . . #astrology #astrophotography #astronomy #astro_photography_ #sky #skyphotography #skyporn #southernsky #lahoreastronomicalsociety #canismajor #canonphotography #canon

Gemini is one of the constellations of the zodiac. Its name is Latin for "twins," and it is associated with the twins Castor and Pollux in Greek mythology. These two stars aren’t really twins. Pollux is brighter and more golden in color. Castor is slightly fainter and white. But both stars are bright, and they’re noticeable for being close together on the sky’s dome. From time immemorial, people have thought they looked like brother stars. In skylore, Castor and Pollux were the sons of a mortal mother, Leda. Castor was the mortal brother, son of Tyndareus, and Pollux the immortal brother, son of Zeus. Castor and Pollux were joyfully united in spirit, yet sorrowfully divided by circumstance. When Castor was slain in battle, Pollux was inconsolable and begged Zeus to relieve him of the bonds of immortality. Zeus granted his request, and, to this day, Pollux and Castor stand reunited in the heavens, a tribute to the redemptive power of brotherly love. These days the constellation is highest around 9 p.m. You can find Castor and Pollux near the Moon. . . . . . #canonphotography #canon #canonusa #canoneosr #canon50mm #canonphoto #canonlife #canonphotographers #canonpakistan #canonpakistanofficial #astrology #astrophotography #astro #astro_photography #astrophoto #astrography #skyphotography #skyporn #sky #skylovers #nightsky #nightskyphotography #skylore #gemini #zodiacsigns #zodiac #greek #greekmythology

Ursa Major, also known as the Great Bear, is a constellation in the northern sky. Today it is the third largest of the 88 modern constellations, covering 3.10% of the total sky. Ursa Major is primarily known from the pattern of its main seven stars, which has been called the "Big Dipper," "the Wagon," "Charles's Wain," or "the Plough," among other names. In particular, the Big Dipper's stellar configuration mimics the shape of the "Little Dipper." Two of its stars, named Dubhe and Merak, can be used as the navigational pointer towards the place of the current northern pole star, Polaris in Ursa Minor. Orion constellation is one of the brightest and best known constellations in the night sky. It lies on the celestial equator. The constellation is also known as the Hunter, as it is associated with one in Greek mythology. It represents the mythical hunter Orion, who is often depicted in star maps as either facing the charge of Taurus, the bull, pursuing the Pleiades sisters, represented by the famous open cluster, or chasing after the hare (constellation Lepus ) with his two hunting dogs, represented by the nearby constellations Canis Major and Canis Minor. The constellation Orion contains – Two of the ten brightest stars in the sky – Rigel and Betelgeuse – The famous nebula – the Orion Nebula – and one of the most prominent pattern in the night sky – Orion’s Belt. The easiest way to locate this constellation is to look for Orion's Belt in the sky. It consists of the three bright stars Alnitak, Alnilam and Mintaka. P.S. The second image will help you to understand how the constellation is metaphorized with the hunter. . . . . . #canonphotography #canon #canonusa #canonasia #canonpakistan #canonastrophotography #canon6d #canonphoto #igdaily #igers #igmasters #igpk #igs_photos #astrophotography #stargazing #stargazers #orion #orionsbelt #orionnebula #orionconstellation #skyphotography #skyporn
