⭐️⭐️💫 Captain Capp is a well respected pilot who recently got a lot of press for pulling off a “belly land.” Very few know that is flying from her past. A past where she found her best friend murdered. When her friends brother corners her to invite her to the 10 year memorial, Ava can’t think of an excuse fast enough. After the event, she meets Tom, who thinks there may be more to the story of Danielle’s murder. 2.5 stars. I really wanted to love this book. I can’t pinpoint it but something was just missing. It felt a bit choppy, like here is this cute rom com love story, but BOOM a possible murder. You are being sabotaged. I didn’t feel like the murder mystery part was truly done to its fullest. It felt like a complete side story to the actual story and just felt off. The person that ended up being the murderer made so little sense. I mean I guess once explained it made sense, but they weren’t even remotely part of the story. When I saw the name my first thought was “who?” Overall, I think I just wanted more from this one. It had the ideas, I think it just needed to be flushed out a lot more. What are you planning on reading these last few days of October? 📚👻📚 . Thanks to this gifted copy from @minotaur_books & @stmartinspress , I will be diving into The Lost Village by Camilla Sten (coming out 03/23/21 ). I absolutely love plots featuring towns that seem to disappear into thin air. I feel like they automatically instill an air of creepiness from the start. The Lost Village sounds like it will be featuring that trope and more and I am totally here for it! Check out the plot synopsis below and make sure to add it to your 2021 TBR! 🙈📖🙈 . Plot Synopsis-Documentary filmmaker Alice Lindstedt has been obsessed with the vanishing residents of the old mining town, dubbed “The Lost Village,” since she was a little girl. In 1959, her grandmother’s entire family disappeared in this mysterious tragedy, and ever since, the unanswered questions surrounding the only two people who were left—a woman stoned to death in the town center and an abandoned newborn—have plagued her. She’s gathered a small crew of friends in the remote village to make a film about what really happened. But there will be no turning back. Not long after they’ve set up camp, mysterious things begin to happen. Equipment is destroyed. People go missing. As doubt breeds fear and their very minds begin to crack, one thing becomes startlingly clear to Alice: They are not alone. They’re looking for the truth…But what if it finds them first? . I am still obsessed with the creepy reads so make sure to recommend your favs to me in the comments!😱😱😱 . . #partner #thelostvillage #thelostvillagebook #minotaurbooks #creepyreads #camillasten #octoberreads #readabook #bookish #bookpals #bookfriends #booknerd #booknerdigans #bibliophile #bookworm #alwaysreading #stmartinspress #bookrecommendation #fallreads #neverenoughbooks

💖💖💖💖 The Night Swim - Megan Goldin If you loved the podcast Serial, look no further. True crime meets fiction mystery thriller in this perfect rainy day read. Sexual assault is not something you normally see in thrillers and it was really interesting to read how this story unfolds. Normally in mysteries/thrillers it’s a murder case so obviously one of the parties is not present, but in this case the victim is involved and its heartbreaking to read. I did feel the pacing was a little slow, but we were following a court case as it unfolded and that is not a fast process. Thanks @deirdreb_reads for this book!! 💕 We follow Rachel Krall, host of the podcast Guilty or Not Guilty, as she steps directly into the courtroom on a rape trial. The towns golden boy has been accused of raping a high school student & the granddaughter of the police chief. With pressure all over the country to make season three a success as well as bipartisan, Rachel throws herself into interviewing and investigating, all while finding mysterious notes sent to her in this small town. The notes are begging Rachel to investigate the 25 year old case of the death of Jenny Stills. The past and present begin to intertwine as Rachel searches for truth in both cases. #thenightswim #megangoldin #botm #bookofthemonth #stmartinspress #mystery #thriller #mysterythriller #mysterythrillerbooks #fiction #suspense #truecrimepodcast #truecrimepodcasts #books #book #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #booksbooksbooks #bookreview #bookrecommendations #bookreviews #bookrecommendation #bookreader #bookreviewer #bookreviewer #bookreading #reviewsmatter #reviewsneedlovetoo

🍁Book Review🍁 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “Maybe when it comes to sisters, boundaries are always a little bit blurry. Blurred boundaries, I think, are what sisters do best. “ This is my first delve into the writing of Sally Hepworth, but it certainly won’t be my last! This twisty domestic thriller had me at the edge of my seat. Thank you SO much to Netgalley for this arc in exchange for an honest review. Fern and Rose are fraternal twins, yet the line where one ends and the other begins is obscured. Their relationship, which initially appears to be a loving one full of sisterly protection and mutual respect, quickly turns into something much darker. This story is told through alternating points of view, predominantly via Fern, but with journal entries from Rose. I don’t want to say too much about the plot as I feel that the less you know, the better the twists will be. If you like strong female characters and twisty, edge of your seat plots, this book is for you! Happy reading 😊

Too Good To Be True by Carola Lovering. When I saw that Carola Lovering the author of Tell Me Lies was coming out with a new book I was so excited. I loved her previous book and had very high expectations for this one. Skye Starling gets engaged to Burke Michaels, who she thinks is the man of her dreams, but is he? There are some hidden dark secrets and another woman involved. It is hard to explain more of the story, without giving anything away. The story goes back and forth in time between the three main characters, Skye, Heather and Burke. I started reading the first couple of pages and I was immediately hooked. This book is divided into two parts and it’s really fast paced. A lot happens in the first few chapters, and I loved that. It’s in part a love story but in others more like a suspense thriller story. It is a very exciting read and keeps you intrigued all the way through. The first part goes by so fast and it has some interesting twists, but then when you get to the second part the story slows a little bit and it loses some intensity. If you are looking for some exciting suspense, revenge, love story look no further. Overall it is a good book and I recommend it. *Thank you to Netgalley and St. Martin’s Press for this eARC. This book will be out for sale on March 2021. 5 ⭐️ Another thriller to add to my favorite books of the year! Don’t Look for Me by Wendy Walker was the perfect, edge of your seat, can’t put it down type thriller I needed! Molly Clarke, still suffering years after the accidental death of her youngest daughter, Annie, goes missing and police conclude she abandoned her family. A few weeks later, a tip comes in and Molly’s oldest child Nicole, doesn’t believe her mother would ever leave them, regardless of how the family blames Molly for Annie’s death. In alternating chapters, we find out what actually happened to Molly while Nicole is anxiously putting the pieces together to find her mother. The narrator of this audiobook, @plummertherese , did a great job bringing the story to life and @wendywalkerauthor had me guessing until the very end! I love how she wrote the character of Alice (soo unlikeable! ), and the psychological battle Molly went through while building a relationship with the little girl. This was my first book by Wendy Walker and I have to go read her backlist now! Have you read any others by her?! Thank you to @macmillanaudio for the review copy, #TheSixSpotlight for hosting a fun buddy read, and most importantly, to Wendy Walker for this great thriller and zoom discussion! #dontlookforme #wendywalker #thrillers #audibooks #googleplay #macmillanaudio #stmartinspress #bookstagram #bibliophile

Don't Look for Me - Wendy Walker 4.5⭐️/5 This book made my eyes hurt. Only because I literally could not stop reading, and of course I would read it at night with a dim lamp beside me and nearly strain my eyes. I NEEDED to know what was happening and how this was all going to connect. 😱 I am so glad I picked this as my last read for October as it ended the month on a good note! Long story short, it's about a woman named Molly who disappears from her family and leaving behind a note telling them not to look for her. But her daughter Nicole starts to wonder if that's what really happened and decides to look in to it a bit further. ⁉️ The book had a dual narrative style, which I generally enjoy as it breaks it up a bit and you get to see different perspectives of the characters. This was another one where I couldn't figure out who we could trust or not and I felt that it had a very quick pace from the beginning. Did not expect the ending...hence why my eyes feel like dust today since I had to finish it last night! The only thing I would have liked more of was a bit more depth with a few of the supporting characters and I had a couple questions at the end where I wanted to know more. BUT, none of that ruined the book. I'm giving it a 4.5/5 and am very curious to check out more of @wendywalkerauthor novels, as this was my first by her!🤗 Side Thought: Does anyone else have to buy more Halloween candy as it creeps closer because you 'accidently' opened some and started eating a few...handfuls...🤷‍♀️🍫 #books #bookreview #bookrecommendations #bookstagram #bookstgrammer #canadianbookstagramer #bookstagramcanada #bookcommunity #bookblogger #booksbooksbooks #bookworm #thrillerbooks #wendywalker #dontlookforme #stmartinspress #bookishlygang

You guys!! This book! [ partner @stmartinspress @macmillan .audio ] Tsarina is officially my favorite historical fiction book of 2020! . I have been looking for a book about the Russian family for a long time. When Tsarina arrived on my doorstep, I was so excited! I listened to the audiobook and the narrator, Anna Krippa, was fantastic. I am so glad I was able to hear the pronunciations for all these names and places. Tsarina follows Catherine I from her teens as a servant, through meeting Peter the Great, their marriage, having 12 of his children, and her death at the age of 43. Let me say that no one in this book is a decent person. Peter the Great, Catherine, and Peter's son, Alexei Petrovich, were all horrible people. They murdered, raped, stole, tortured, and manipulated everyone around them. Tsarina reminds me of a real life Game of Thrones, no magic or fantasy needed. Ellen Alpsten's writing immerses you in Russia during the turn of the 18th century. There are times where you want to root for Catherine and then she does something awful and you remember how terrible they all are. Catherine is more intelligent than she gives herself credit for. Tsarina is exactly the type of historical fiction that I love. I read it faster than I should have in order to take everything in. I'm already looking forward to a re-read. . Is there a royal family that you are fascinated with? . . #crystalsbooks #bookstagram #tsarina #ellenalpsten #historicalfiction #octoberreads #bookreview #bookrecommendation #fivestarread #audiobookstagram #stmartinspress #macmillanaudio #peterthegreat #russianroyalfamily #russianroyalty

I looooove a good book about cults, fiction or non. So many great ones to choose from, but I was inspired by a post on Instagram today by @undead_dad_reads _dad_reads about a new Adam Nevill collection, Wyrd and Other Derelictions that was recently released. Last Days is a novel by the aforementioned Adam Nevill and tells the story of Kyle Freeman, a documentary filmmaker who has been trying to cover an infamous cult called The Temple of the Last Days, which came to a violent end that included a massacre and death of its leader, Sister Katherine. When Kyle gets asked to shoot a doc on the cult, he gets way more than he bargained for when weird, inexplicable events start to plague the shoots. Nevill is my new favorite horror writer, whose work you may know from the Netflix movie, The Ritual. One of my favorite cult movies is The Endless, directed by Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead and it feels like the perfect pairing with Last Days. You can purchase Last Days and The Ritual through the link in our bio. #lastdaysbook #adamnevill #stmartinspress #macmillian #spookyreads #theritualbook #theritualnetflix #exileinbookville

✨To my fellow book lovers✨: •📚High Five by Janet Evanovich •📚Thoughts: Here is another great novel in the Stephanie Plum series! 👍🏻Stephanie Plum is your not-so-typical bounty hunter. 👣She always finds herself in the most unique circumstances. Plum ends up bringing a Little Person to jail because he missed his court date for carrying a knife in public! 🔪 In the process, the Little Person’s door was knocked down and his apartment had gotten robbed while he was in jail for a couple of days. When he was released, Plum’s cousin Vinnie (who is also her boss ) decides to send the Little Person to Stephanie’s place to stay😱 while his apartment is getting renovated..a COMPLETE stranger🤔, whom she put in jail...EEK! 😂 High Five is also a novel about solving the mystery of her missing Uncle Fred 😳and her realizing that she is in a love triangle 💕with one of her co-workers, Ranger, and a cop who she arrested in the first book, Joe Morelli. Evanovich never disappoints in the Plum series! 💛 •📚Vocabulary: Posthumous, Pocked, Tremulous •📚Location: Book Monster in Santa Monica, CA • • • • • • • #book #books #booklover #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #goodread #goodreads #goodbook #read #reading #reader #readers #booksconnectus #readingrecommendations #booksrecs #readersofinstagram #readersofig #bookworm #bookaddict #bookstoread #janetevanovich #bountyhunter #hilarious #stmartinspress #support #supportsmallbusiness #supportlocal #local #novel #bookmonster

It’s ~review~ Time!⁣ ⁣ Two rapes (and a murder to cover one of them up ) 25 years apart + a courtroom drama + small town protectiveness + a podcast = a really incredible thriller! ⁣ ⁣ The author handled the topic of rape/rape trials with honesty but also with sensitivity. It heavy, dark, and emotional, but man was it good! She also expertly connected the two timelines and interwove them to make the story feel seamless⁣ ⁣ 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘕𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘚𝘸𝘪𝘮: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⁣ ⁣ #thenightswim #megangoldin #novel #thriller #bestsellingauthor #librarybook #loveyourlocallibrary #stmartinspress #bhamal #bhmal #birminghamalabama #bhambooksandcoffee #bookreview #bhambooksandcoffeereview #fivestarread

Anyone else really bad at posting book mail? I am usually about a month out on my posts and I always forget! I always post a story when I receive something, but I need to be better about planning for a bookstack every so often! Instead what happens is I post the story, then the book goes into my “system” which don’t ask, It probably only makes sense in my head, and then eventually I am like crap I need to post some book mail and then the above happens! So here is some book mail from the past two-ish months! I am so thankful to the tagged publishers for these gifted books. I really need to break out of this slump because there are just so many amazing books here I can’t wait to read. Think work would understand if I took a sabbatical just to catch up on my reading? Any books here I need to jump to the top of my list? I have a few that are at the top of my list, but if you have read and loved any let me know! #williammorrowbooks #harperbooks #harperperennial #grandcentralpub #wednesdaybooks #sourcebooks #atriabooks #minotaurbooks #avidreaderpress #stmartinspress #alcovepress #randomhouse #foreverpublishing #mirabooks #bookmail #backedupbookmail #bookreviewer #booklover #booksbooksbooks #booksbooksandmorebooks #bookrecommendation #booklove #lovebooks #ireadbooks #readingislife #readerforever #abookaday #readingeveryday #gottaread

⭐⭐⭐⭐ARC Book Review Time: Warning possible spoilers . . . . . .. ... .... I love the Phantoms vibe that this book has. It's more mystery than horror but I was definitely intrigued from the first page. The creepy setting was perfect. I don't have a lot to critique here. Told from different points of view in different time periods, it sometimes got confusing as to who/when the characters were but it was easily worked out. A large portion of this book is reliant on perspective and how it can all be wrong; Alice and Emmy's point of view on her suicide attempt, her grandmother's opinion on Silvertjarn from the outside, Aina's on the pastor and her parents, Elsa's view point on the town from the inside, and the town's fears about Birgitta, everyone's opinion on mental illness and how those opinions affect their actions. All of it is important for the tragedy (or tragedies ) to play out. I could go on and on but it's an important life lesson. Reality is subjective. It was just an enjoyable creepy read. Add it to your tbr list if you like creepy thrillers. Trigger Warning: There is disturbing abuse of a special needs woman that is integral to the storyline in this book. #netgalley #thelostvillage #bookreview #advancedreaderscopy #stmartinspress @stmartinspress #spookyseason #readersofinstagram #bookstagram #newbook #creepybook #thrillerbooks #nospoilers

⁣⭐⭐⭐⭐⠀ ⠀ Four ambitious Wallstreet coworkers get trapped in an elevator under the guise that they will be participating in an escape room as a corporate team building activity... little do they know they’ll be fighting just to come out alive. ⠀ ⠀ A fast paced thriller that's easy to binge read! I was invested from page one and didn't want to put it down! The thing I loved most about this book was the way it discussed how ruthless and sexist corporate America is. As much as I enjoyed it, I feel like this one is pretty predictable, but it's about the journey people, and I enjoyed the journey! So much so that I bought my own copy! ⠀ ⠀ I don't know about y'all but trying to review a thriller without spoiling is always a bit of a headache.⠀ ⠀ Q: Would you ever participate in an escape room?? It seems fun in theory but I feel like my anxiety would not make it fun for me 🙈

REVIEW: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 • ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Synopsis: The Grey sisters had only each other when their mother died years ago. Their stern, unyielding father gave them almost no attention. Winona, the oldest, needs her father's approval most of all. Aurora, the middle, is the peacemaker. Vivi Ann, the youngest, is the undisputed star of the family. Everything comes easily to Vivi Ann, her father's love most of all. But when Vivi Ann makes a fateful decision to follow her heart, rather than take the route of a dutiful daughter, events are set in motion that will test the love and loyalties of the Grey sisters. They will be pitted against each other in ways none could have imagined. Secrets will be revealed, and a terrible, shocking crime will shatter both the family and their beloved town. • ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Review: Such a wonderful story about three sisters who lost their mother, with a father who pays them little attention. This book touches on jealousy, betrayal, and what it truly means to be a family. Three sisters, three completely different personalities. I have two older brothers so it’s hard for me to relate, but I’ve always been curious about the sister relationship and how competitive it would be growing up, having the same taste in men, and vying for your parents’ attention. It’s a great story about family and one that keeps you guessing right until the end. This was a chunky book, but one I devoured in five days. I find KH books are always long, but the scene setting, the character development, and the storyline are all so well described that it makes it all worth it. Thank you to @thebookclubmom for hosting another fantastic buddy read for the #KHbacklistbuddyread . The Shell Seekers - Rosamund Pilcher @stmartinspress After reading a couple of classics that challenged me and then a couple of emotional books, I was really keen to get into a good old fashioned family saga, one of my favourite genres. And I definitely got what I was looking for with The Shell Seekers. The story is centered around Penelope, a beautiful woman coming towards the end of her life and deciding what she is going to do with her most treasured possession, a painting by her father, The Shell Seekers, that has increased in value over time. The story jumps from present to past, giving the perspective of Penelope, her children, her parents and a couple of key friendships. It is just a really lovely read, Penelope is such a great character, humble, kind and strong, and I just wanted the best for her. I loved how the story captured that money doesn’t buy happiness; that true love, although sometimes only fleeting, will stay imprinted on your heart forever; and, the most important thing you can do is be true to yourself. “Luxury, I think, is the total fulfillment of all five senses at once. Luxury is now, I feel warm; and, if I wish, I can reach out and touch your hand. I smell the sea and, as well, somebody inside the hotel is frying onions. Delicious. I am tasting cold beer and I can hear hulls, and water lapping, and the fishing boat’s engine going chug-chug-chug in the most satisfactory way.” “And what do you see?”... ...”I see you.”

🎧Book Review🎧 Tuesday is done and we are almost to the middle of the week. 🙌 This book right here was INTENSE but excellent! Exactly how I like my thrillers - dark, nail-biting, edge of my seat kind of stuff. I love Wendy Walker’s books and she did it again with Don’t Look For Me. Molly Clarke has been through a tragedy and as a result her life is still falling apart. Would it be so hard to just walk away from it all? Probably not, it would probably be easier. So when she turns up missing after a storm and a note is found in a hotel, it’s an open and shut case. Or is it? She ran out of gas in the storm and a man and his daughter offered her a ride. Seems easy enough until it doesn’t. Meanwhile, a new lead comes in and causes Molly’s daughter to question whether her mother really wanted to leave it all, as the more she thinks about it, it just doesn’t make sense. We then are working from two POV’s, Nicole’s and Molly’s. It is nonstop, heart pounding intensity until the very end. Oh and this town is straight up CREEPY. And SHADY. A town that you do not ever want to stop in at all, just keep it moving thank you. This book just had it all for me, and Molly is one momma I would not want to mess with. You do NOT want to miss this one, just trust me. Thank you to @netgalley and @stmartinspress for the e-galley to review. The audiobook is also fantastic as an FYI. —— #bookswithjams #instablogger #booklove #bookfemmes #wendywalker #dontlookforme #mystery #thriller #bookreview #booklove #stmartinspress #bookrecs #audiobooks #fiction #bookstagram #femaleauthors #bookpic #reading #bookshelf #uptowndallas #bookish #bibliophile #netgalley #dallas

Happy #pubday It is a little sad to wish happy release of a book based on tragedy. You can read my review on my blog https://www.cherylsbooknook.blogspot.com or goodreads. In only 90 seconds, a fire in the Station nightclub killed 100 people and injured hundreds more. It would take nearly 20 years to find out why—and who was really at fault. All it took for a hundred people to die during a show by the hair metal band Great White was a sudden burst from two giant sparklers that ignited the acoustical foam lining the Station nightclub. But who was at fault? And who would pay? This being Rhode Island, the two questions wouldn't necessarily have the same answer. Within 24 hours the governor of Rhode Island and the local police commissioner were calling for criminal charges, although the investigation had barely begun, no real evidence had been gathered, and many of the victims hadn't been identified. Though many parties could be held responsible, fingers pointed quickly at the two brothers who owned the club. But were they really to blame? Bestselling author and three-time Emmy Award-winning reporter Scott James investigates all the central figures, including the band's manager and lead singer, the fire inspector, the maker of the acoustical foam, as well as the brothers. Drawing on firsthand accounts, interviews with many involved, and court documents, James explores the rush to judgment about what happened that left the victims and their families, whose stories he also tells, desperate for justice. Trial By Fire is the heart-wrenching story of the fire's aftermath because while the fire, one of America's deadliest, lasted fewer than two minutes, the search for the truth would take twenty years.

📚Book Review: The Night Swim by Megan Goldin📚 Rachel, a well-known true-crime podcast host, travels to a small town Neapolis to cover a rape trial. This trial ripped the town apart. There’s no way Seth, the town’s all-star swimmer, could have raped Kelly. He’s just not that kind of guy… Rachel is set on seeking justice and the truth when she starts receiving notes about a murder that took place 25 years ago. Rachel wants to brush it off and focus solely on the trail, but she is intrigued by the notes. Could the two cases have something in common? This book is incredible. I was hooked from the beginning and didn’t lose interest at all while reading the book. I was so curious how the notes and the trail connected and was beyond shocked when I found out how😳I literally gasped out loud. Did not see that one coming! This is a fun mystery/thriller on the surface, but if you read between the lines, there are so many important themes, such as flawed media coverage, corruption, and abuse of power. This book reminds me of the Chanel Miller case (if you haven’t read her memoir Know My Name, I highly recommend you do so ASAP ). People value the reputation of the all-star swimmer, yet discredit the victim because of their community status and how much they drank that night. Rarely is the guy’s intoxication level in question as much as a females because, well, “boys will be boys.” In that sense, this book frustrated me because of how flawed the legal system is and how it’s a place where one goes to seek justice, yet often the opposite of the intended effect occurs. Overall, this was a fast-paced entertaining mystery/thriller that kept me on edge! #bookreview #thenightswim #thriller #mystery #booklover #booksandplants #booksandcoffee #bookphotography #readmorebooks #stmartinspress #asseeninlife

☕️📚 Wow to this #bookmail !! #TheFourWinds by Kristin Hannah @kristinhannahauthor is another piece of historical fiction gold. Thank you so much to @stmartinspress for my #gifted copy. The premise grabs me for a few personal reasons. It’s set in 1934 Texas, my grandma would have been 12. She grew up on a farm in South Texas. I don’t have much to go on but her stories of that time are etched in my mind. They grew everything they ate, life was modest but gratitude abundant. I love Kristin Hannah’s ability to transport you to times and places and I can’t wait to delve into this beautiful story! . . Here’s the synopsis: Texas, 1934. Millions are out of work and a drought has broken the Great Plains. Farmers are fighting to keep their land and their livelihoods as the crops are failing, the water is drying up, and dust threatens to bury them all. One of the darkest periods of the Great Depression, the Dust Bowl era, has arrived with a vengeance. In this uncertain and dangerous time, Elsa Martinelli—like so many of her neighbors—must make an agonizing choice: fight for the land she loves or go west, to California, in search of a better life. The Four Winds is an indelible portrait of America and the American Dream, as seen through the eyes of one indomitable woman whose courage and sacrifice will come to define a generation. Scheduled to release on 2/9/21. You won’t want to miss this one. Just add it to your list. . . . . . #bookstagram #kristinhannah #stmartinspress #historicalfiction #beautifulbooks #lit #tbr #whattoreadnext #fortheloveofreading #bookstabuddies 📚 #bookstoread #booktography #flatlay #toread #goodreads #bookpost #instadaily #instafollow #booklife #picoftheday #bookaesthetic #latte #booksandcoffee

Officially found a thriller I genuinely enjoyed - and the ending wasn't TOO ridiculous (my #1 complaint about this genre ): DON'T LOOK FOR ME by Wendy Walker. I'm not even going to go into the plot, because I think it's best to just go into it blind... but it’s creepy and would make a perfect spooky October read. If you have read it, you might find it funny to hear I was envisioning Mick as John Goodman in 10 Cloverfield Lane the whole time...tell me I'm not alone? 😅😂 Favorite thriller this year? Always looking to add good ones to my TBR list! 📚 (PS - thanks @macmillan .audio for my complimentary audiobook! )

All the #sundayvibes with my #currentread . I feel like I am one of the last people on Bookstagram to read Emma in The Night by Wendy Walker. Taking so long to read this book is definitely due to the hype. I was afraid all the build up would lead to a great big let down. I wasn’t let down. This book was really good. I Will say it isn’t a thriller as it was billed but it is a great suspense. Finished this one in a day and a half so it moves really fast. I actually think this would be a great audio book to listen to. The alternating of characters would be enough to keep anyone’s attention. Disclaimer, I found this copy at a local book sale. I promise I didn’t keep this @bookofthemonth for 3 years and finally get around to reading it. I can’t say the same for some of the other BOTM’s on my shelves but this one has only been on my shelf for about 6 months. Now onto the yummy pastries staring at you from the photo. Y’all they were so good. A new bakery opened up in Lakeview and those pastries are the bomb! That chocolate eclair was pure heaven. I plan on getting fo @the other two pastries today. Maybe I’ll share but probably not 😬. Also, don’t you just love when the decor matches your book!? If you are in the area get yourself over to Celtica in Lakeview and enjoy these tasty treats. What is your Sunday looking like?
