As you can see he is over-striding. This is when the initial contact with the ground is in front of your centre of mass. 🕵️‍♂️🏃‍♀️🕵️‍♀️. . Arthritis (arthr= joint, itis=inflammation ) More specifically Osteoarthritis, also known as wear and tear, a very common condition relating to arthritis of the joints and bone from a pathogenetic viewpoint. The wear and tear refers to gradual destruction (wear ) of the cartilage that covers the articulating surfaces of bones. This causes exposure of the underlying bone (periosteum ), which is very highly innervated i.e sensitive therefore leading to pain. The wear is mainly due to physical stresses as per normal daily life amongst impact from sports but recent research suggests genetic predisposition to also be a factor. 🤓 Exercise Vs Medication/Therapy/Cracking/Massage Guns/Supports! 🤓 This is an image taken from health and safety. It's showing the most to least effective ways to control hazards. Musculoskeletal complaints can be viewed the same way. If you have a musculoskeletal complaint the fundamental problem is your body not having the capacity to deal with the demands placed upon it. Traditionally, as is human nature, we don't like change. What we have tried to do is 'treat' musculoskeletal complaints with anything that DOESN'T require behaviour change. Medication/massage/cracking/supports are all things that don't change the fundamental problem of your body not being able to deal with your daily demands. They mask the problem. They're literally like a mask, like PPE, the lowest level, least effective form of hazard control. The hazard hasn't gone anywhere and the risk is very poorly controlled with these methods. Exercise, done well, ELIMINATES the hazard. It leads to physical adaptation that conditions the body so it IS capable of dealing with the demands placed upon it. It actually solves the problem. Just like in health and safety it's easier to get that medication/massage/cracking etc. It's easier to give a staff member a mask than develop a whole new process that doesn't require a mask. Overview An ACL injury is a tear or sprain of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL ) — one of the major ligaments in knee. ACL injuries most commonly occur during sports that involve sudden stops or changes in direction, jumping and landing — such as soccer, basketball, football and downhill skiing. . . Symptoms Signs and symptoms of an ACL injury usually include: -A loud "pop" or a "popping" sensation in the knee -Severe pain and inability to continue activity -Rapid swelling -Loss of range of motion -A feeling of instability or "giving way" with weight bearing. . . Causes ACL injuries often happen during sports and fitness activities that can put stress on the knee: -Suddenly slowing down and changing direction (cutting ) -Pivoting with your foot firmly planted -Landing awkwardly from a jump -Stopping suddenly -Receiving a direct blow to the knee or collision, such as a football tackle . . . Resistance Exercises Clasp the fingers, keep on the forehead, and try to push the forehead in front without moving the hand and head. Repeat the activity by keeping this at back of the head and repeat the same procedure. Keep palm of one hand at side of the head and press the hand with the head without moving both hand and head. PIVD Prolapsed or herniated or extruded intervertebral disc. It is displacement of disc material (nucleus pulposus or annulus fibrosis ) beyond the intervertebral disc space. This herniation process begins from failure in the innermost annulus rings and progresses radially outward. The damage to the annulus of the disc appears to be associated with fully flexing the spine for a repeated or prolonged period of time. Type of spine curvature deformity. 1️⃣ Lordosis (Swayback ). The spine of a person with lordosis curves significantly inward at the lower back. 2️⃣ Kyphosis (Hunchback or roundback ). Abnormally rounded upper back . 3️⃣ Scoliosis. Sideways curve of the spine. The curve is often S-shaped. Symptoms of lordosis may include: 1.Appearing swayback, with the buttocks being more pronounced. 2.Having a large gap between the lower back and the floor when lying on your back on a hard surface that does not change when you bend forward. 3.Back pain and discomfort. Problems moving certain ways Symptoms of kyphosis are usually visible in nature and include: 1.Bending forward of the head compared to the rest of the body. 2.Hump or curve to the upper back. 3.Fatigue in back or legs. 🚨ACL rehab - knees over toes isn’t bad!🚨 —- 💥Let me start off by saying having your knees over your toes is not inherently bad for you. I’ve heard many athletes tell me their previous provider never loaded them with their knees coming forward and have even been told it’s bad for them! If you watch an athlete move, at some point during a game, an athlete will have their knees over their toes with tasks such as decelerating, changing directions or jumping/landing. —- 🏋️Not loading the quads with the knee moving forward means the athlete isn’t being properly prepared for their sport. The quad NEEDS to be loaded in a variety of ways to regain full strength and function. This does not mean every exercise needs to encourage this but it definitely needs to be integrated into a proper rehab program. —- 💪Here are three exercises I use in ACL rehab that all involve the knee coming forward 1️⃣ Step off with med ball reach - exercise I got from @dr .jfitboyd. I cued her to reach the medball towards her foot. 2️⃣ Single leg step off - I’ve posted this several times but it’s one of my favorite ways to teach force absorption 3️⃣ Single leg reverse step off isos - another favorite to encourage the knee to load the quad coming forward — 🧠𝗟𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗵𝗮𝗯?
