Hello and happy Tuesday! ♡ Q: favorite graphic novel/graphic novel series? Last week I read the first 3 volumes of Saga! I really love how full this world feels and how much diversity there is. The characters are also so easy to fall in love with! I can’t wait to read the next volumes : )

⁣ 📚My pick for August 2020 Book of the Month !! 🥳⁣ ⁣ Okay, so this is the first month I have actually picked one book in so long 🤣 I have so much on my TBR for August I had to limit myself this time 😅 Especially with the release of Midnight Sun, and I just got unwaitlisted for both FairyLoot 🧚‍♀️💜 & Owlcrate 🦉🤍 !! So...one BOTM this month 🤣⁣ ⁣ I am so excited to dive into 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘕𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘚𝘸𝘪𝘮 though, I have been highly anticipating it ! The plot sounds amazing and I know it’s going to bring awareness where we need it, so I’m stoked. ⁣ ⁣ 📚QOTD: What were your pick(s ) for @BOTM this month? Or if you don’t have a subscription/skipped, what is your current read? 🤩⁣ ⁣ Want to join Book of the Month and get greatly priced books each month? Destination Wedding is that fun book you rely on when the days get hot and you have no bandwidth for anything that will demand too much out of you. It’s a book that talks about rich and privileged Indians. If poverty porn is more your thing, I’d say skip past this one because in all likelihood, the book will annoy the heck out of you! Diksha Basu sets her book in India, well most of it anyway. Tina Das, our protagonist, is an American-Indian whose parents came to the States for higher education and stayed back because they liked the country enough to want to set up their lives there. However, Tina is never really sure which aspect of her identity to fully embrace—the Indian one or the American one—always finding herself languishing somewhere in-between, a feeling of unease accompanying her no matter what she is doing and where she is. So when Tina, along with her divorced parents, is invited to her cousin’s wedding in India, she enthusiastically accepts the invitation, seeing it as a fitting opportunity to test if she would perhaps fit in in India better. Thus begins the rollicking ride that #DestinationWedding is! Whether it’s Tina’s friend Marianne, who likes to adapt herself to her lovers’ personalities or her mom, Radha, who gets a new lease of life post her divorce, this book is filled with characters who will constantly surprise you. I especially liked the characters of Mrs Sethi, a woman Tina’s dad meets through divorce-matchmaking services; Bubbles, the obnoxious wedding planner and Nono, the grandmother who carries Prada bags, loves playing cupid and helps in planning elaborate dates in her cctv-protected mansion. I do have to say that there were bits in the book that I found slightly unbelievable, especially when it came to the grand descriptions of overflowing riches, but I guess we need our own version of Crazy Rich Asians. —— #bookphoto #bookreview #funbooks #readersofinstagram #beachreads #prettycovers #readersofig #readingismagic #readerscommunity #igreads #bookstagramista #flatlaylove #womenwhoread #booksbooksbooks #bookaccount

“ “Magic,” Emagora explained, “is as old as the dirt on the ground, the rocks on the mountain, and the stones in the stream. It’s nature, you see? Just like the wind, the rain, the plants, and the animals. You can grow it, harvest it, and mold it to be practically anything you want.” “ - Swearingen Durham, The Blackstone Ritual ___________________________________ Rating: 4/5 🌟 Author: Swearingen Durham Publisher: Literally Wanderlust Release Date: 9/1/20 ________________________________ I want to start by saying a huge thank you to Literary Wanderlust for the review copy of The Blackstone Ritual! ________________________________ Let me start by saying this book was not what I expected at all. I’m honestly not sure what I was expecting but it was not this. Which I LOVED! I love it when a book takes you by surprise! It’s so nice a refreshing when a book is not predictable! To often I read books where I’m like “yep called it!” That rarely happens with TBR. Also there is a major twist that completely blind sided me. I had to go back, and reread that part again to make sure I read it right. WOW just WOW! I will say I was a little bit concerned about Arden being a trickster, and not taking things as seriously as he should. I was happily proven my concerns were not warranted. He grew over the course of the beginning of his journey! Yes this is just the beginning there is more to come, and I can’t wait for it! I love the characters, world, and magic system! Be sure to pre-order The Blackstone Ritual for a gorgeous pin designed by @gabriella .bujdoso , who is also behind the stunning cover!! This is Swearingen’s debut novel , and what an amazing debut it is! _________________________________ #MythicAugustReads Day 11: #Re #bookwithajourney _________________________________ #theblackstoneritual #swearingendurham #literarywanderlust #bookreview #honestreview #debutnovel #septemberelease #bookobsessed #bookishlove #booksbooksbooks #bookpics #bookishaesthetic #readingisfundamental #readingismagic #bookishcommunity #bookishlife #booksofig #booksofinstagram #avidreader

If I were stranded on a 𝐃𝐄𝐒𝐄𝐑𝐓 𝐈𝐒𝐋𝐀𝐍𝐃 and could only bring 5 books with me that I've read so far in 2020, it'd be these! 🏝😰📚⠀ ⠀ I *had* to narrow it down to books I've read in 2020, which is 52 (humble brag ) mind you. If I hadn't limited my options, choosing 5 out of every book I've ever read would have taken me at least a week of deliberation. ⠀ ⠀ So here are my picks!⠀ ⠀ 𝑶𝒏𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝑾𝒂𝒕𝒄𝒉 I've raved about this one a ton. It's seriously my new favorite book. Desert island or not, you should absolutely put this one on your tbr.⠀ 𝑨𝒖𝒕𝒐𝒃𝒐𝒚𝒐𝒈𝒓𝒂𝒑𝒉𝒚 If it's not obvious, let me say it now, I love a good modern romance novel! This is by far one of the best I've read ever, not just in 2020.⠀ ⠀ 𝑷𝒓𝒊𝒅𝒆 & 𝑷𝒓𝒆𝒋𝒖𝒅𝒊𝒄𝒆 Y'all, I cannot believe I went 23 years of my life before reading this classic. I'll probably read it at least 10 more times in my lifetime. ⠀ ⠀ 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑽𝒂𝒏𝒊𝒔𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑯𝒂𝒍𝒇 This book is *so* innovative. Honestly, it has one of the most unique and riveting plots I've ever come across. Pick it up, pick it up, pick it up! And call me after to tell me how hard it was to put down.⠀ ⠀ 𝑵𝒐𝒓𝒎𝒂𝒍 𝑷𝒆𝒐𝒑𝒍𝒆 I know Sally Rooney's writing style isn't for everyone, but it is for me. I've read this book twice already and would be fine reading it 15 more times. ⠀ ⠀ Tell me what your 5 picks would be! ✨👇🏽✨ Or whatever number you can muster. It definitely helps to narrow it down to 2020 reads, trust me.⠀ • ⠀ • ⠀ • ⠀ • ⠀ • ⠀ @britrbennett @christinalauren @__ksl @sallyrooney6 #TheVanishingHalf #BritBennett #OnetoWatch #KateStaymanLondon #PrideandPrejudice #JaneAusten #Autoboyography #ChristinaLauren #NormalPeople #SallyRooney #ConversationswithFriends #TheUnhoneymooners #Thehoneydontlist #authorcrush #Ireadya #readingismagic #romcomreads #modernlovestory #booksconnectus #booklove #bookreviewblog #epicreads #beachread #funread #readtorelax #bookobsessed #whattoreadnext #quarantinereads #booksofig #prettybooks

Happy Tuesday, all! We were in quarantine until we got our negative test results, so I’m out of coffee and had shortbread for breakfast 😂 We will definitely need to pick up groceries today, that’s for sure. Oh! And I heard coyote howls for the first time in my life. So eerie! In bookish news, I started my personal #fantasyathon this morning - and loaded up my @amazonkindle with a few fantastical selections I’ve been meaning to read for awhile. Fantasy is my favorite genre, and I’m excited to get lost in these books: THE RECORD KEEPER by Agnes Gomillion (Afrofuturism ): The Record Keeper is a visceral and thrilling near-future dystopia examining past and present race relations. UPROOTED by Naomi Novik (Fairytale ): In this Nebula Award winning novel based on Polish folktales, a young woman with blossoming magical skills must fight to save her village. SPINNING SILVER by Naomi Novik (Fairytale ): In this Rumpelstiltskin retelling, Miryem is the daughter and granddaughter of moneylenders, but her father's inability to collect his debts has left his family on the edge of poverty--until Miryem takes matters into her own hands. PRINCE OF THORNS (The Broken Empire #1 ) by Mark Lawrence (Epic Fantasy ): When he was nine, he watched as his mother and brother were killed before him. By the time he was thirteen, he was the leader of a band of bloodthirsty thugs. By fifteen, he intends to be king... THE SWORD OF SHANNARA (Shannara #1 ) by Terry Brooks (Classic Fantasy ): A classic fantasy series focusing on the adventures of half-elfin Shea Ohmsford as he defeats evil. FOUNDRYSIDE (Founders #1 ) by Robert Jackson Bennett (Fantasy/Cyberpunk ): Part heist, part cyberpunk, part fantasy following Sancia Grado, a thief who has set her sights on her latest target, a heavily guarded warehouse on Tevanne’s docks - but it turns out she’s been sent to steal a powerful artifact. Have you read any of these? Hello! How is summer/winter where you live?! Is it good? Where I live it is freaking hot right now and I miss colder days (and especially nights ) so badly! 🍁🍂🥧🎃 Speaking of that.. 🤭 I was thinking I haven't seen a Disney movie since like Forever.. Why?!?! Do you have a favourite Disney movie? And do you like more the ones with the princesses and castles or the ones with brave girls and battles. I think I like both types, depending on my mood and always the happy ending. 🍁 Have a peaceful evening y'all! I love language and using my words to create change. Books remind me of that power and in an effort to share more, I figured I'd share some of my bookshelf. Books are listed from left to right 📖 1. The Artist’s Way—this book single handedly helped me overcome imposter syndrome. Even when I experience it now, I have tools to navigate it because of this book. 2. Sextrology—this book is love. A great insight into the mind, body, and soul of each sign. Also useful when dating. 3. The Lost Language of Plants—a book gifted to me from someone else bookshelf. It's beautiful how plants can communicate their healing to us. 4. 8 Habits of Love—a good one. A guide. Especially if you were cared for as a child, but not loved. 5. The Hate You Give—a humbling, relevant read. Defund 12. 6. From N*ggas to Gods Vol. 2—both books ain't gon hold you up. These books are for black folk. They've reminded me of our power. 7. The Collector—a book I had to read in a gender studies class that removed the veil for me and exposed just how unprotected women are. 8. all about love—a gospel. I've shared this many times. I believe everyone should read it. 9. I'm Judging You—I love a book that calls you out lol. I admit, I didn't get through all of this, but the message is to act right. #ReadMore

💀Q&A💀 Good afternoon, Coven! I should have an exciting little sneak peak at the largest item in the Winter Solstice Blessings box later today! I hope you all love it! 🤞🏼 In the meantime, I’ve wanted to update you all on a couple of things. ☠︎︎♡︎☠︎︎♡︎☠︎︎♡︎☠︎︎♡︎☠︎︎♡︎☠︎︎♡︎☠︎︎♡︎☠︎︎♡︎☠︎︎♡︎☠︎︎♡︎☠︎︎♡︎☠︎︎♡︎☠︎︎♡︎☠︎︎♡︎☠︎︎ ☠︎︎ The box pricing has not yet been decided, but it will be around $48-$55 before shipping. ☠︎︎ Shipping costs are still in the works, as I am trying my absolute hardest to make sure everyone has a fair and affordable postage price. Right now, the plan is to go with USPS, but with everything going on in the postal service lately, I might have to go in a different direction. I will update The Coven as soon as I make a final decision. ☠︎︎ Every box between now and 2022, at least, will include a hardcover book, a candle, and at least one crystal. ☠︎︎ Please remember that this is an 18+ company. There will be cussing, mature content, and other nefarious things. So, if that is not something you are comfortable with, I urge you to unfollow and runaway. There will be no Mary Sue here. We will make mistakes, we aren’t perfect, and we will fuck up. But I promise that no matter what the circumstances, we will own those fuck ups and admit when we are wrong. The Coven Members will ALWAYS come first. I didn’t start this company to make money. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I started this box because I needed there to be an LGBTQIA+/POC/BIPOC inclusive dark book box, even when its not trending. 👀 As a bisexual/pansexual/just fucking sexual person who is married to a BIPOC, and has BIPOC children, I needed to have an outlet to show my children, and everyone else, that they aren’t forgotten by the book community. With that said, ima hop off my soap box. If you have any questions, ask them! I’ll be answering all the questions today! 🖤

My friend @erin .cello and I ventured out this weekend to meet up for (*surprise* ) books and coffee. We’d been wanting to go to @harrietts_bookshop for months and I haven’t had a cup of coffee from @lacolombecoffee in years. 📚☕️ On to the good stuff! Here is my haul from Harriets! I managed to get a memoir, a romance and a science fiction/fantasy that has been on my radar for a while now. I love my science fiction but I haven’t read ANY this year. That’s not ok, so I’m about to fix it. If you live in the Philadelphia area, I highly recommend checking out Harriets (located on Girard in Fishtown ) and supporting BIPOC authors and a black-owned independent bookstore. QOTD: Have you been reading more BIPOC authors lately? Tell me your favorites!

I am in a dilemma where I want to light it and see what the other scents smell like, but then it’s too pretty to burn.😂 Maybe I’ll just buy another one to burn and save this one. Hahahaha, bookstagram problems amirite?😆 🌸 College classes start back in 13 days for me. I am super excited for classes to start back, especially with the World Literature class I’m taking this fall. ‘’In the time it takes for most people to read the label on a cereal box, fifteen-year-old Maria Teresa Calderon could read half a book, or more – if she didn’t have to turn the pages”, the Associated Press reported in 1968. At University, she read a three page long college-level essay of 3,135 words in just 3.5 seconds. She is able to read 80,000 words per minute with 100% comprehension. Her world record still stands today. In comparison, the second highest recorded speed in reading is 54,825 words per minute with 90-percent comprehension. In comparison, an average person reads around 250-300 words per minute, with around 70% comprehension. While Calderon’s reading skill was not unique it was her achievement that made it to major papers in the U.S, and was headlined in Manila dailies. t u e s d a y . Do you prefer hardcover or paperback? I tend to gravitate towards a nice floppy paperback. Hardcovers are pretty, but I love the comfort of paperbacks and I love how worn and loved they start to look. . . . Today’s #tometopple prompt is for naked hardbacks. Turns out this one was a bit harder for me because I tend to not buy hardbacks unless it’s a new release for something I just cannot wait for a paperback release for, just like book 3 and 4 of The Diviner’s series. I still haven’t read book 4 and tbh, I’m kind of scared to? I’ve enjoyed this series so much I don’t want it to end and I don’t want to have any disappointment. . . . „An Abundance of Katherines” is a book which started my love for John Green and his works. ⁣ Colin’s story is one of the kind. I mean, guy got dumped by a girl called Katherine nineteen times and he’s working on a mathematical formula to predict the outcome of every relationship with Katherine. It already sounds pretty interesting. ⁣ Characters are gold, Colin especially. He’s a really outstanding person. Guy so different from everyone around him and yet fitting the story perfectly! ⁣ The book is really light and nice. It will be ideal to de-stress and just have some good time without having to think a lot. I highly recommend it. That is a very solid 4 stars. ⁣ Do you like John Green? Good morning everyone! ☀️ I finished The Vanishing Half last night... This book is such a gem, and Brit Bennett is a profound writer. I’m still processing how this book made me feel and impacted my thoughts. Hopefully I can come up with a review that strings words together coherently 😝. But I already know it will never do the book justice!!! I could read this book 3 times over and still get more out of it the 4th time. HAPPY RELEASE DAY for Kiss My Cupcake by @helenahunting . ⁣ • Now live on All Platforms! ⁣ • ⓇⒺⓋⒾⒺⓌ • Oh, what a hilarious, sweet and heartfelt story this was, perfect for this summer from hell. Helena Hunting can really do NO wrong. Every time I pick up one of her books I know that I'll end up in stitches, laughing my a** off and so full of feels that I'm left a little bit of hangovered. ⁣ Blaire and Ronan might not seem the most logical pairing but the way they complemented each other was a vision to behold. Determined to prove her worth and also that her dreams were worth fight for, Blaire embarks on a journey full of buttercream, unicorns and frosting. Having a day from hell a week before her grand opening, Blaire comes face to face with her new neighbour and things definitely start on the wrong foot with Ronan. A war emerges full of cupcakes, pranks, poop and glitter (don't ask just pick up the book! ). ⁣ It was so awesomely funny to witness the back and forth between these two extremely different people and the slow burn built up to their relationship. I loved Blaire's take charge and take no sh*t attitude and the way it was counterbalanced with Ronan's laid back and witty personality. I absolutely adored their initial rivalry and the extremes each one would go to get a leg up over the other. And when they banded together to fight of a common enemy, THAT'S when they truly shined and became unstoppable. As I mentioned, this was a slow burn but when the fireworks started it was instantly KABOOM!!!! Ronan and Blaire's chemistry was off the charts but their connection was what made them absolutely epic! I loved their banter, every hilarious prank and basically every interaction they had, made me either laugh, swoon or cheer. ⁣ I'll honestly never get tired of HH's writing and as always she sucked me right in from the first page. I unequivocally adore her series, but every time she steps outside her established and true and tried worlds, she really sticks the landing. ⁣ #KissMyCupcake #HelenaHunting #Outnow #bookreview #becauseofreading #bookgram #booklover #bookstagrammer #littlebookworm #igreads #goodreads #readersofinstagram #readingismagic #authorsofinstagra

. . . #bookstagram #bookstagrampoland #bookstagrampolska #bookstagramtopasja #bookstagrampl #polishbookstagram #books #booksphoto #book #lovestory #newadultbooks #bibliophilelife #readingismagic #instabook #bookaesthetic #bookworm #igreads #bookstagrammer #kochamczytac #czytaniejestsexy #czytambolubie #czytanietopasja #czytam #lovereading #reading #instabook #wydawnictwofilia #kimholden #promyczek #brightside

In college, I conducted my honors thesis on working memory and reading. Literacy is the reason I got into speech pathology in the first place - I was too scared to be a classroom reading teacher, so small group therapy seemed right up my alley! In my work with mostly older students, I’ve witnessed the struggles they experience because of a poor foundation in basic reading fluency and comprehension skills. By the time they reach me, bridging that gap is often difficult and frustrating for them. ✨🌿✨ It is so vitally important that we help our students build literacy skills from the youngest of ages. Stats such as these 👆🏻 remind us that it is literally their livelihoods at stake! ✨🌿✨ This year, I’m committing to work through the difficulty and do what I can to help my older kiddos (8th grade and up! ) build stronger literacy skills. It’s going to be different this year than it would be in a more normal time. But, with the way things are going, perhaps it’s all the more important! 🌿✨🌿 On the blog this week, I’ve shared 3 reading websites I plan to incorporate into my therapy sessions this year. Between virtual therapy and lessening the germ risk, virtual activities will be so important! ✨🌿✨ Do you have any favorite reading resources for older students? Please share them below! 👇🏻 🌿✨🌿 “...I don’t know what the likes of me can do against, against-“ he faltered. “Against the Shadow in the East,” said Strider quietly. “Not much, Barliman, but every little helps.”

"I don't know what frightens me more, the power that crushes us, or our endless ability to endure it."- Gregory David Roberts, Shantaram. . Cheers to everyone who is trying their best to stay afloat in this lockdown!🤗 Hope you're doing well and keeping up with your reading goals! I'm trying my best to read more but I keep getting sidetracked.😢 . A few weeks ago, @theobvious .mystery tagged me to do the Mid Year Book Tag! I'm a bit late to this but I believe it's better late than never! So, here we go! . 🍁 The best book I've read so far in 2020? . There are 2 on my mind but I'm gonna pick Nectar in a Sieve by Kamala Markandaya. It's not a very popular book but it's a beautiful hidden gem.  . 🍁 Biggest Disappointment? . The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and The Woman in the Window. Sometimes I get swayed by the hype surrounding the book and then the disappointment ensues.😅 . 🍁 Biggest Surprise? . Milk Teeth. I wasn't expecting it to be such a heavy story and good one at that! I just fell in love with the characters and their journey. In the end, I was emotionally devastated and was left with a hangover!😭 . 🍁 Favorite Author? . Leo Tolstoy, Ruskin Bond and Kamala Markandaya and many more! . 🍁 Newest Favourite Character? . Anna from Anna Karenina! . 🍁 Book that made you cry? . I can't choose one. Anna Karenina, Nectar in a Sieve, Milk Teeth. . 🍁 Book that made you happy? . Room on the Roof. It's a lovely coming-of-age story. Oh and there's another one! While I was scrolling Amazon, the title Nights in Pink Satin caught my attention. It was a fun, guilty pleasure read! . 🍁 Favorite Review I've written? . Poor Economics. This was one of the shortest review I wrote in an hour. Usually I tend to write big reviews because I can't condense my thoughts. I try to be laconic but it doesn't work.😅 . 🍁 The most beautiful book you got this year? . I loved all the books I got! If I had to choose, Wuthering Heights has a pretty cover. . 🍁 What books do you need to read by the end of the year? . I've set my goal to 60 on Goodreads. But I'm gonna try to read more if possible. . Tagging a few lovely people here to do the tag. If already done, you can ignore.😁

Emma in the night by @wendywalkerauthor 📚 This is my first book of this author. So I didn't have high expectations like the other reviewers. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was thrilling and alluring. You always got hints of the dark undertones in this tale. It got me hooked. I devoured this book. I'm sure you will too. The story is about 2 sisters, Cass and Emma. One night, three years ago, they both disappear. Then suddenly, Cass comes back. She claims that Emma wasn't with her and she was trapped in an island by some unsavourable people. She finally escaped home. Most people take her at her word. But the forensic psychologist, Abby Winter knows the she is hiding something. She probes to find out more about this blended family. Cass's mother remarried and has a step son. She is a narcissistic. Abby wonders what happened to Emma. The secrets gets unfolded one by one and it leaves you aching. Its tragic. I loved it. So if you haven't read it yet. Go read it now. Read it / Skip it- My verdict- READ📖 Rating- ⭐⭐⭐⭐ PC- Pinterest📌 Edit- @inscribedinklings 🌸 Have you read the book? What did you think about it? 📚QOTD: Are you into sufism/sufi novels? . 📚QUOTE: - “History is not an event or a story, history is an obligation, which you are compelled to bear during your human existence” . . 📚PLOT: - On his way from Tangiers to China, the Moorish traveller Ibn Battuta arrives in Turkey where everything reminds him of the legendary Rumi as he tells his story . 📚WHAT I LIKED: - I loved the idea of how its full of stories within stories, IBN BATTUTA being the protagonist and telling the story of rumi along with his own . - The book actually showed both aspects - ugly and beautiful of people because at the end of the day even the most pious of people cant be perfect and that’s ok . 📚RANT: - well naturally after reading THE FORTY RULES OF LOVE i wanted to read more of rumi novels and it was nothing like the forty rules - There were so many things that annoyed me which i just wanted to skip and not think about lol - Idk if it was me, if the book was hard to understand or what but nothing really stirred any feelings the way forty rules of love did - Maybe its even wrong to compare two books but i couldn’t help it because that book was the reason I decided to read this one . . 📚RECOMMENDATION: - I don’t really recommend it to anyone, if you are new to the subject of sufism it really isn’t the book to start with however anyone with a more profound understanding might actually like it❤️ . . 📚RATING: ✨ 2.75/5 . . . . #bookstagram #bookreview #quarantinelife #quarantinereading #bookphotography #bibliophilelife #circe #booksandchill #bookcommunity #bookworm #bookaddict #booklover #mybookshelf #readers #readersobsession #booksbooksbooks #bookblogger #instabook #rabisankarbal #bookishlove #sufism #letmeread #amirroredlife #readingismagic #bookishlife #lightroompk #bookstagrampakistan #booknerd #mybookfeatures

This book is hilarious and one of my personal favorites! It teaches that there are usually two very different sides to every story, which is a great lesson at any age. Part one depicts the little girls side of the story where she finds a cute little beast in the woods and decides to "rescue" him by taking him home with her. Welllll, the second part is from the “Beasts” perspective and his explanation of events is very VERY different! hahaha It really helps children see outside of themselves and as I’m sure you know, that doesn’t come naturally for most kiddos.

So, you all know how my reader brought me "Home" a couple of months ago & abandoned me in one of her rusty old cupboards. Like any love-lorn paperback, I sat there for weeks, edges fixed on my alleged reader, loosing hope with every passing day. Sometimes she opened the brown mahogany door that shut me off from her world, she ran her fingers over my pages - picked me up, rustled through my sheets & just when I thought my shelf-days were over, she put me back, sometimes pushing me farther behind. This happened every Saturday night - my friends tell me that's when she chooses her "reads". Days became weeks, weeks became months and before I could realise it, my pages had started turning yellow. I had learnt to shut myself. I seldom saw her. There were cobwebs around me and it was cold in that dim-lit corner. I was convinced she had abandoned me,once and for all. And then, something changed. Sunlight streamed in on my spine one day. She pulled me out gently. I think I saw her smile when she read my name again. I wonder why. Was there a reason she was fond of me particularly? Or was I just another disillusioned paperback? It was quite exhilirating to let wind kiss my pages after what seemed like eons. Her hands felt warm & cosy, like a hug from a long forgotten friend. My memory is blurry about how I ended up this large brown expanse, but I was finally there. Unlike my closed door shelf earlier, this desk was beside a huge window. I became buddies with some more books nearby. We learnt she called us TBR now. I wonder what it meant though. My buddies here are beautiful. There's this wise old paperback - his spine is pretty damaged, his pages look coffee stained but he looked like he had lived a good read. There were the pretty girls - the French flaps and the heavily built up Hardcovers. There were simpletons and ones with beautiful covers. We learnt we were all here to bring different stories home. But in our common anticipation of being read, we were all together. [Continued in comments] #theElderbookling

What is your favorite mythological creature? 🧜🏿‍♀️🧛🏻‍♀️🧝🏻🧙🏻‍♀️ ⁣ - ⁣ I’m here with another book ➡️ outfit feature, this time with A SONG BELOW WATER by @bcmorrow 💙 this is a contemporary fantasy about sirens living secretly in Portland. It’s easily one of my most hyped releases of the year, especially after reading Bethany’s novella MEM and absolutely loving it. As far as my fave mythological creature: mermaids, always 😘

Hello loves! . QOTP// do you own a series that you haven’t read any of yet? . We are headed home today from our little road trip. I have to say, college decisions are harder when you can’t actually go into any of the buildings... At least this time we got to see a little of campus life since people were moving back in to the dorms. On the plus side, the ice rink nearby was really nice and the people all seemed very sweet. I certainly have a lot to think about after the visits. . #bibliophile #booknerd #bookishfeature #booksbooksbooks #bookstagramfeature #bookstagrammer #prettybooks #readingismagic #readersofinstagram #bookworm #bookgram #bookfeature #bookishlove #igreads #booklover #bibliofeature #biblio_feature #thedarklibrarians

ℚ𝕆𝕋𝔻: Do you believe in aliens? ⁣ ⁣ I definitely believe in aliens. There’s no way there are no other life forms in the universe!!⁣ ⁣ 👽👽👽👽👽⁣ ⁣ Huge thank you to @penguinteen for providing me with an e-arc of Skywatchers by Carrie Arcos in exchange for my honest review.⁣ ⁣ Skywatchers tells the thrilling story of a group of teens in the 1950’s who are a part of the “Operation Skywatch” club. Their job is to watch the skies for enemy communist aircraft. The club is pretty boring, at least until one night when a strange light appears in the sky. Four of the teens go to investigate, but they all disappear. The teens return, but all of their memories of the incident have been erased, and one of their group is still missing. ⁣ ⁣ Skywatchers is an exciting mystery that combines sci-fi and historical fiction. It was a super fun story full of suspense and mystery. I really enjoyed it! The cover is also super cool!⁣ ⁣ Check out my full review ~ link in bio!! ⁣Skywatchers is our August 18th! ⁣ ✨ #PixieDustandBooksAug20 Day 11: “Forget About It, It’s in the Past” - historical fiction ✨⁣ ⁣ #penguinteen #skywatchers #carriearcos #scifi #historicalfiction #review #bookreview #penguininfluencer #readersgonnaread #readingismagic #readingisfundamental #bookdragon #reader #netgalley #arc #advancedreaderscopy #photochallenge #bookstagram #booksofinstagram #bookstagrammer #bookblog #bookreviewer #booknerd #booklover #bookworm #instareads
