Complete proteins contain all 9 essential amino acids (EAAs )- these amino acids must be obtained through dietary intake as the body isn’t able to make them on its own. Muscle growth and recovery after exercise will be impaired if you don’t get enough EAAs. A protein is considered incomplete if it doesn’t contain all 9 EAAs. Eggs are also complete proteins. Soy protein is a good option for vegetarians. Most nuts, grains, and beans are not complete proteins, although quinoa and amaranth do contain complete proteins. . 💪🏻PAIRING INCOMPLETE PROTEINS Different incomplete proteins can be paired together in a way that complements each other, pairing foods that are deficient in a certain amino acid with other foods that are rich in that amino acid.
