This time today myself and @brighton_pilates of @myescapeuk should have been heading up 450ft into the sky on the @ba_i360 to teach our monthly Escape to the Sky. Sad that social gatherings and events like this all over the World are on hold. Sad to think if it will now change the way we teach, the way we nurture our students with touch. I’ve always loved the touch from a teacher in a yoga class and for me it’s a big part of my teaching, offering the healing touch in savasana. Will we come back appreciating these little luxuries more than ever? I hope so and I hope that all this things brings a great sense of the importance of self care. Right now more than ever take care of yourself, stay healthy, stay fit and active, eat well and enjoy the present moment of the joys of nature around you. Posted @withregram@rootsandwingsmag You think you know yourself, well, I thought I knew myself until I began moving with my menstrual cycle! What’s been brought before my eyes is the very many rich layers I am made of. The more I pay attention, the more I find out about myself and how I can put the fun function into family, friends and work. I use the philosophy of the Red School that puts our monthly adventure into the seasons: Menstruation Phase = Inner Winter Follicular Phase = Inner Spring Ovulation Phase = Inner Summer (my ego identity! Go go go, do do do, push push push... WORN OUT ) Luteal Phase = Inner Autumn Being able to relate to each seasons unique qualities has given me so much clarity and direction. Simply knowing which energies, hormones and emotions are firing at the time enables me to move with and for myself and not be dragged into people pleasing and my own emotional self sabotaging. My Inner Spring has been a great lesson on deepening my clarity and direction as I’ve learned the art of containment. I found out I bypassed my follicular phase (Inner Spring ), eager to get to my comfort zone, Ovulation (Inner Summer ). Saying yes to everything as I wanted to be seen, heard and felt. But saying yes to everyone and everything doesn’t give you clarity or direction. In fact, it makes you tired, crabby and really bad at making decisions. I realise now just how all over the place I really was and why (even though I never showed it ) I would get those deep emotional downs. I now use my inner spring as a time for creative cultivation. I allow whatever ideas or feelings to grow and expand so I can feel whether they’re right to take action on, not just saying yes for the sake of it. My movement is pretty playful too so I don’t get too serious with life. This woman wants and needs more fun in her life! ✍️ @abiadams_mma

Virtual Sessions mean that you can literally do your exercise routine wherever you like, while having a highly qualified Coach guiding you through your practice, demonstrating where needed, checking to make sure you are doing things right and safely. Then you realize that the 2-way conversation is far superior than watching a video or joining a group online class. You can chat about things and have a few laughs. It’s like having a coach and workout buddy in one! You won’t be wasting your time searching for just the right workout, only to find somewhere in the middle of the workout that it’s not the right level for you, or that you don’t enjoy the instructor, or there are no modifications for your needs, and that there are exercises which are too easy or too difficult. Having YOUR Coach giving feedback right there on your screen alleviates all of that, all with the right modifications or changes to the workout accordingly to your goals, needs, moods, and injuries. LET YOUR BODY BE YOUR TEACHER 🕉 . in the first years of my yoga path, i practised with many different well-known teachers, because i thought "they knew it"😏 . the reality: almost everybody told me something different. everybody had a different truth about yoga, anatomy, meditation etc.. i got confused . and some teachers were very convinced about that their truth is the ULTIMATE one (especially ashtanga yoga can be quite dogmatic sometimes )😀 . the last 2 years were kind of an "awakening" for me. i luckily met teachers, who encouraged me, to actively question things and to LISTEN TO THE ANATOMY OF MY OWN BODY & MY INTUITION. to also rethink the role of a yoga teacher. . in yoga, may it be asana, meditation etc, there should never be the dogma "one size fits all ". this is simply not working, although it may be "easier" for a teacher. . especially when you are feeling confused, or disconnected from your own needs on your spiritual path: stop watching tutorials for a while, do your practice maybe alone or practise just with one teacher you trust.. and really try to listen what feels right for YOU . the truth is always inside of us and the natural intelligence of our body is the most powerful teacher we have 🌌 . . 📷 @_jkleinr_

Don’t try this at home without a spotter and if you are doing this you should go to the wall. The setup is precarious and you must have the #iyengarchairs on a yoga mat and blankets should be setup properly. I just decided to play with #corework by #inverting my #crunches . The additional instability of doing this in the middle of the room was the biggest challenge because you have to make sure you don’t fall backwards. Ps... This is not a headstand practice. Good morning ❤️ I’ve been tagged in a positivity challenge to show my face on Insta & keep the positivity going. Here I am post-workout decorated as a rainbow cat yesterday & here are some of my thoughts this morning... ✨ Really trying (! ) to enjoy the family time together- my husband is revelling in having the time at home & in his element when the weekend comes & he can get jobs done✨ My daughter is so happy being at home & having both of us at home too ✨ I’m more of a take it day-by-day person & seem to cope better as long as I’ve had some daily me-time with exercise ✨ I’m loving staying connected to my friends & family & know I’m so lucky to be able to do that ✨ I find it very overwhelming to think of others in our society who are suffering or lonely- I’m having to limit my news exposure and concentrate on that which is within my circle of influence ✨I’m STILL waiting for the cleaning bug that many of my friends have spoken about.... my house needs a really good clean ✨ I accept that some days will feel lighter & brighter than others & going to allow myself to feel the emotions I feel. I know feelings change so I’m going to try to let myself feel them ☯️ ✨ I’m not being as proactive with Zoom Pilates as many of my peers currently- the truth is my family situation doesn’t allow it at the moment, so I’m trying not to stress about that, hopefully my clients will still want to come to my classes when all this is over ✨ I know firsthand the importance & benefits of movement to mental health - & I’m a huge advocate of any kind of movement for mental & physical health ✨ I’ve found a ‘new normal’ once before in my life- when my son Jim died when he was a baby. Some of this has felt strangely familiar ✨ I’m NOT about movement for aesthetics- find out & celebrate what your body can DO ✨ Phew. That went on a bit. You deserve a 🏅 if you got to the end.
