Here’s another cool shot of the testate amoeba from the Arcella genus I shared yesterday! They build their own shell by synthesizing everything from scratch or by picking up particles of sediment and gluing them together with their own secretions! The shell provides shelter and protection from predators and harsh environmental conditions. They love to snack on diatoms, as you can see from the multiple ones that are inside the cell but they also snack on green algae and other protists such as ciliates and flagellates! They move using their pseudopods, extension of their body, that come out from a hole under the shell, and they catch preys with them too! Unfortunately we can’t really see them in this video but we can see that it’s moving surely but slowly 😋 I’ve got a amoeba moving in time laps coming real soon 👀 Video was taken with my iPhone mounted on my T490B Amscope microscope with an @ilabcam adapter 🔬 #amoeba #science #biology #sciences #microscope #microscopy #shotoniphone #iphoto #pond #ecology #closeup #underthemicroscope #microcosmos #microscopic #amoebas #microbiology #microorganisms #sciart #zoology #iphonography #iphotography #pondlife #protozoa #biodiversity #water #nature #microscopic #freshwater #pondlife #microbe

Had some fun with the colours on this Thuricola video 😄 the lorica, their kind of shell, is well visible! It’s where they hide when there’s some perturbations in the environment, even some small vibrations makes them hide super quick! I’ll post a video soon of them coming in and out of their lorica 😁 Small food vacuoles are also visible and moving up and down of this single cell organism. They’re also ciliate, they use their cilia to create a water vortex that attracts food particles and is then digested in these vacuoles with specialized enzymes! Stay tuned for another video real soon 🌱 Video taken with my iPhone mounted on my T490B Amscope microscope with an @ilabcam adapter 🔬200X magnification #ciliates #science #biology #sciences #microscope #microscopy #shotoniphone #iphoto #pond #ecology #closeup #underthemicroscope #microcosmos #microscopic #ciliate #microbiology #microorganisms #scienceporn #zoology #sciart #iphotography #pondlife #protozoa #biodiversity #water #nature #microscopic #freshwater #pondlife #microbe

Let's throw it back to Biofertilizers ❇️ Biofertilizers are made from specific strains of beneficial soil living #microorganisms 🦠 👉🏽 example - Nitrogen fixing #biofertilizers made from groups of bacteria such as Atozobacter and Rhizobia. They team up with the already present microbes to increase nitrogen fixation and promote plant yield. In addition to its relatively lower cost, biofertilizers can be added as a supplement to #chemicalfertilizers to maximize efficiency and result. 🔻🔻🔻 🗣️ Comment below what type of fertilizer you use.

"micro-me" A natural pattern that exists in nature. My relationship with microbes has always been interesting. I don't see them as “germs,”. I like to see, to imagine, to think how amazing pattern they create. They are too small, we can't even see them with naked eyes. My Panettone Journey Step 2 PRIMO IMPASTO also know as first dough. 📌What i have learned during my panettone journey is that there is no room for mistakes or half assing anything. It starts with the LEVITO MADRE, which literally took me a week to perfect. Check out my previous post to know more about the LEVITO MADRE. 📌So i used T65 strong bread flour which has 12.7% gluten, slated butter and farm fed egg yolks. 📌The only problem i was facing was the temperature as it is quite warm where I stay (Rajasthan,India ) and honestly the only thing i would helpful was do the mixing in an air conditioned room, the ideal temperature should not be more than 20°C and mine was reaching 30°C at some point. 📌It took for 35 minutes to get the dough together, you need to make sure gluten development is happening at every stage and the result is in front of you. The gluten development is INSANE!! #primoimpastopanettone #primoimpasto #sourdoughpanettone #panettone #gharmeingourmet #chefprachi #sourdough #sourdoughstarter #sourdoughbread #sourdoughbaking #sourdoughclub #sourdoughschool #sourdoughlearning #beginnersourdough #microorganisms #flour #indianflour #wholewheat #fermentation #baking #chef #professionalchef #baker #breadbaking #breadporn #artisanbread #shaping #foodie #foodblogger #chef

Balantidium coli ... Balantidium coli, a large ciliated protozoan, is the only ciliate known to be capable of infecting humans. It is often associated with swine, the primary reservoir host. Recent molecular analyses have suggested the need for taxonomic revision, and it is now sometimes referred to as Neobalantidium coli or Balantioides coli, although this nomenclature has neither been resolved nor widely adopted in the medical community. This pink beach is located on Komodo Island in Indonesia, home of the Komodo dragon. Beaches like this are extremely rare. They get their color from a mixture of sand and a type of microscopic animal known as Foraminifera. These single-celled organisms live in coral, and have shells made of red calcium carbonate. When they die, their shells collect on the ocean floor and are eventually washed ashore by the tides. This is where I keep my terrarium plants before I use them in a design. Some of these plants were collected from the forest and others were grown from cuttings. The plants that thrive most in terrariums are small plants that like damp, humid environments. By keeping your plants in sealed plastic containers they can become acclimated to the high humidity of the closed space and it will be less of a shock once they are planted in a terrarium. A plant may drop leaves or even die of shock in your holding space, but that’s better than in a planted terrarium. Also, many plants you buy from garden stores can have parasites on them. These illnesses often only show up once the plant is in a high humidity space. Putting the plants into a holding container is a way to quarantine them and watch for issues. If a plant is sick, you would notice it dying in quarantine. You could then easily remove and discard the sick plant before having used it. After a couple weeks, you can be confident the plants thriving in your holding container are adapted and should also do well in a terrarium. These containers are ideal places to propagate cuttings. Most tropical houseplants can be propagated. By googling “how to propagate” the tropical houseplants you own you can learn how to create tiny terrarium sized versions of your favorite tropical plants. The more clear the containers you use the better. Less clear plastic requires brighter lighting to make sure the plants get enough. Bright ambient light from the sky is ideal. Direct sunlight can overheat a sealed container. So limit direct sunlight to around one hour or less. Artificial grow lights also work great. I keep my containers under an LED grow light. Any bright lightbulb or fixture that says it’s a ‘grow light’ or ‘full spectrum’ will work well. There are many good types. I also use these types of containers to keep the moss I find.

ANCESTRAL FOREST is a clipping piece of immensity, that immensity that was a necessary condition for the existence of life. It shows us the Universe and nature as an organic whole, where each element is interrelated and can not be isolated from the rest. I was fascinated by the primordial role of planktonic organisms within the global functioning of our planet and its ancestral role, both in term of the apperance of life in the sea about 3.800 million years ago, and in terms of the transformation the first photosynthetic marine microorganisms made, changing the characteristics of the primitive atmosphere, and makeing therefore the Earth a habitable planet for us,as we know it today. It is also important to point out the architectural aspect of some of these microorganisms, whose skeletons eventually settle on the seabed, thus entering into the geological circle. The wonderful and detailed drawings of the scientist Ernest Haeckel served as inspiration, to make hundreds of polymer nanoparticles collected at the Catalan Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology transform into tiny particles within this oceanic immensity, representing radiolarians, a species within the extensive field of protists. The infinitesimal microorganisms: diatoms, dinoflagellates, cocoloitoferos and foraminifera observed with Scanning Microscopy and collected by the Institute of Marine Sciences, have enriched these depths, highlighting their essential role especially in the anthropocene era. #marinebiology #phytoplankton #microorganisms #ocean #plankton #protist #diatoms #cocolitoforidos #dinoflagellate #oxigene #atmosphere #nanoparticles #polymers #nanotechnology #science #artsci #artscience #universe #microcosmos #infinite #inmensity #life #artcollector
