When everything you do makes your out of breath. When you can’t stand for more then 5 minutes because your blood pressure is so low you feel like you’re going to pass out. When the little miracle, bundle of joy, in your abdomen kicks your ribs to the point that they are most likely bruised. You GET UP. You brush the pity me off. Put on a cute outfit. THROW on a smile. Make your protein shake. And CARRY the F* ON! #7weekstogo #33weekspregnant #lowbloodpressure #pregnancyafterwls #thirdtrimester #brushitoff

There’s no feeling like it. On Friday, I donated 20 juices to frontline workers in the COVID/ICU ward at @mountsinainyc —undeniably the healthcare leaders in New York City’s fight. I felt an extraordinary mix of emotions: excitement on the drive to the hospital; giddiness to hand over the juices; and a mess of tears as I drove away. It was the most meaningful donation of my life. New York is eternally grateful to frontline healthcare workers, and juice could never confer sufficient gratitude. But it sure was deeply gratifying to donate part of their lunch for Friday, and I hoped that the juices met a modicum of their needs for the day. Juice and Salt has always been for you—your health needs and peace of mind. Whether you’re a frontline healthcare worker or juice lover.🧃💙

I can definitely confirm that being on a half dose of Midodrine is not working for me. It’s better than none at all... but it’s not good. ⠀ Sincerely hoping the correct script arrives in the mail tomorrow. ⠀ Getting slammed by physical symptoms is emotionally exhausting. I feel so... disabled. I can barely push through symptoms.... and pushing through is going to end with more fatigue, and possibly more injuries. ⠀ ⠀ #dysautonomia #orthostatichypotension #orthostaticintolerance #posturalorthostatictachycardiasyndrome #lowbloodpressure #lowbp #tachycardia #chronicfatiguesyndrome #myalgicencephalomyelitis #mecfs #spoonie #spoonielife #chronicillness #chronicillnesslife

Throwing it back to a tome when we wasn’t in lockdown... Feeling pretty drained and just shattered at the moment to be honest. I’ve been suffering with mouth and throat ulcers pretty badly the past few weeks which is my body’s *hint hint* that my iron is low. I’ve been working on getting better at doing my edges on my hair. And my friend suggested that I get this gel stuff I guess from the Dollar Tree and it works so well. I can happily say I’m getting better at it. I got some other strong hold gel there too and hopefully it will help my hair stay in place when I sleep since I wear my hair like this to bed. And it’s too tiring to redo it everyday. I’m so happy about this and the gel for my edges is so easy to use it doesn’t take much effort which means I don’t need to be holding my arms up for a long time which can be tiring. And make me dizzy. So happy!! 😍🤩 #potssyndrome #potssyndromeawareness #potssyndromeprobs #chronicillnesssurvivor #chronicillness #chronicillnesswarriors #chronicillnessfighter #chronicallyawesome #potssucks #potsstrong #spoonie #spoonielife #lowbloodpressure #lowbloodpressureproblems #hypoglycemia #hypermobile #nopittyparty #chronickidneydisease #gastroparesis #nauseasucks #chronicallyill #hair #hairedges #hispanicgirls #latina

Dinner! Mango chunks, burger with provolone, fan, and White Claw. I really wanted to try White Claw and I liked it a lot. And it’s the perfect summer accessory, right?🥕🍊 [With arrhythmia or impaired renal function, potassium should not be increased]

Fuckity fucking fuck. ⠀ I somehow miscalculated the amount of Midodrine I had left. Instead of 40 tablets I have 10. ⠀ A new script is, apparently, in the post, but that’s taken two weeks to even happen. Then due to brain fog I might have forgotten (I have zero memory of it ) to ask for the special access scheme script. ⠀ If it’s a private script it will cost me well over $100AUD instead of the $6-7AUD it usually does. A private script also means dragging my Midodrine lacking body up a hill to a compounding pharmacy that isn’t accessible with wheels. ⠀ I’ve cancelled home schooling my family member. I’ve halved my Midodrine dose to stretch the tablets I have out all week... but I’ve done this before and it’s unfun. BP drops rapidly, heart rate goes nuts. ⠀ I’m kicking myself for messing it up this badly. Also peeved it takes me specialist so long to write scripts when asked (I’ve had delays like this before, but am usually more prepared ). ⠀ So, uhhhhh, bed rest... come at me? 😬 ⠀ ⠀ #dysautonomia #orthostatichypotension #orthostaticintolerance #posturalorthostatictachycardiasyndrome #lowbloodpressure #lowbp #tachycardia #chronicfatiguesyndrome #myalgicencephalomyelitis #mecfs #spoonie #spoonielife #chronicillness #chronicillnesslife

👋🏻 it’s been a rough few days for me. My blood pressure has been dropping to 70s/40s even with medication which makes it a struggle to do anything. I ended up taking Midodrine for the first time yesterday because I was tired of feeling like shit. Luckily it gave me enough of a boost that I didn’t feel dead anymore.😆 . Pretty much every month I have a week of feeling shitty before my period. Eww gross, I know, I said period.😂 But seriously it practically kills me before it arrives every month. Anyone else? 🙋🏼‍♀️ How do you cope? What helps? 🩺Bisoprolol update💊 Definitely helping with the dizziness, only really had one bad POTs episode in the last 4 days! Only thing is I keep having extreme and sudden waves of fatigue. I've literally fallen asleep twice while working when I was feeling fine 2 minutes before and felt groggy for hours after. No other major side effects though which is amazing! . Hopefully the fatigue will settle a bit. Feeling good about it for now 😊 Really didn't think this was going to work for me given my low blood pressure - been tracking it every hour and it's not made any big difference, my pulse pressure is wider/more normal so I guess that's good! . . . . . . #newmeds #bisoprolol #betablocker #betablockers #pots #potsie #dysautonomia #fatigue #posturalorthostatictachycardiasyndrome #posturaltachycardiasyndrome #othostaticintolerance #hypotension #lowbloodpressure #sideeffects #newmedicine

Code alert! Code on my favorite amino acid supplements from my friends at @jomarlabs . You see, juice didn’t heal everything for me, and that’s ok. Juice healed a lot, but I still needed an amino acid supplement to help me digest protein and strengthen my intestinal lining. And the amino acids from @jomarlabs are the *cleanest* on the market. . . If you have trouble digesting protein—from a malabsorption disorder, sibo, mast cell activation syndrome, pancreatic insufficiency or otherwise—you may grow increasingly deficient in amino acids that facilitate digestion. That’s because protein breaks down into amino acids—but you can’t digest protein, so you stop eating it. And that keeps you from replenishing the very amino acids and enzymes you need to digest protein again! . The Black Label 21 Blend amino acid powder from @jomarlabs contains every single amino acid. It’s unequivocally the cleanest amino acid supplements I’ve found on the market with no additional ingredients or flavors. I take it 3x a day—that nets out to about 9.6 grams of additional protein. And it’s an influx of amino acids that benefit all cellular processes in the body. . . Check out my friends at @jomarlabs to see the powder and all their supplements, and use code juice10 for 10% off!! And def consult your doctor before starting any supplement regimen!☀️

HISTAMINE INTOLERANCE: . Histamine is a chemical released by your mast cells to trigger the release of stomach acid for proper digestion and also released injury or allergic reactions as part of your immune system. . WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU CAN’T PROPERLY BREAK DOWN YOUR HISTAMINE?? Potential symptoms include ▫️Allergies and chronic congestion (obviously... ) ▫️Hives, or frequent rashes ▫️Irregular heart beat ▫️Low blood pressure ▫️Heartburn ▫️Joint pain and inflammation ▫️Brain fog and fatigue ▫️Diarrhea . POTENTIAL CAUSES: ▫️deficiency of enzyme DAO that’s responsible to breakdown histamine ▫️histamine rich foods ▫️high alcohol consumption . Personally working on this played a huge role in clearing my eczema, and improving my migraines and allergies. If you have multiple of the symptoms listed above, you might want to look into this. Treating this is a place where ND’s really excel 💚 . . . . . . #histamineintolerance #dao #histamineintolerant #hives #eczemaproblems #eczemarelief #hivestreatment #brainfog #heartburnrelief #genetictesting #geneticmutation #histaminediet #allergyrelief #sinusrelief #sinusitis #lowbloodpressure #heartpalpitations #antihistaminefoods #antihistamine #eczemacare #eczemacauses #rashrelief #rashtreatmemt

•Managing A Crash• Recently I’ve *really* been struggling; winter is not kind to my M.E. Last week I spent 4 days in a row out of bed, immediately after a 5 day migraine: 2 hospital appts, a trip to/from London, 1 graduation, being sat upright for hours on end…it left me feeling awful. I couldn’t be upright any more, I’ve been in bed ever since! When my health deteriorates I cope by knowing I’m doing all I can to make myself more comfortable whilst riding out a crash. @compressionsockshop recently sent me some compression socks to try so I’ve been wearing them whilst on bedrest & feeling their benefits! I’m a fan of compression socks; they help ease brain fog, reduce BP drops & lower tachycardia from blood pooling in my legs. Wearing them this week enabled me to sit up a bit more in bed & I’ve also noticed my severe headache eased some, which seems magic to me, wear socks & reduce your headache? Ok! Obviously, compression socks are just one of many things that can help reduce symptoms but they’re a relatively cheap & easy option to try. I find that when used alongside other non-pharmacological symptom management methods, I feel a bit better, which is all we ever want isn’t it?! Chronic illness has ‘medicalised’ much of my life. For years I put off wearing compression socks because I only ever found medical looking ones in ‘skin’ colour & black, & I wanted fun ones to reflect my personality! @compressionsockshop are a UK based company stocking high quality, soft & comfortable, patterned compression socks made by @supcare . I’m so in love with the fun designs & instead of looking medical, they look like a nice pair of everyday socks that just so happen to help me feel better! A lot of you ask me where you can get nice compression socks in the UK, so here you go! You can buy the pair of @supcare compression socks that I’m wearing & many more amazing styles from @compressionsockshop . Follow the link in my bio to visit their site & check them out! I also have a discount code for you: enter “misssaltbae” at the checkout for 10% off your purchase. We love a bargain! Happy shopping folks! 💕

“Once you have become grateful for a problem, it loses its power to drag you down.”-‘Jesus Calling’ Today one of the the “problems” I’ve been praying to avoid caught up with me. After reading today’s passage in my ‘Jesus Calling’ book suggested to me by @k_hoffman_marie , it made me feel a lot better. I’ve had the most active couple of weeks that I’ve had in YEARS. I’ve been extremely tired but also still full of adrenaline from the surprise vacation, engagement and WEDDING. So I haven’t been getting as much sleep as I should. Last night I was exhausted at 7pm and went to bed without dinner, my nighttime meds, and way short on my Gatorade intake for the day. I woke up this morning excited that Danny is finally coming home from work and was zipping around the house doing things when it hit me...a POTS attack...and I can confidently say besides my tilt table test, the worst one ever. My heart rate was extremely high and my heart was pounding. I felt dizzy, faint and was in a cold sweat. I didn’t know what to do. I also felt like I was going to be sick so I laid on the bathroom floor. Calling an ambulance was all I could think of doing because I was alone. I somehow slowly mustered up the strength to make oatmeal, get Gatorade, put my compression socks on and get on the couch. Slowlyyyyy (I’m saying over two hours ) the symptoms subsided. Ideally, IV fluids would’ve sped up the process but that would’ve entailed going to the ER or my Cardiologist who’s a half hour away and I was in no shape to drive. So I’ll spend the rest of the day relaxing, hydrating, eating, listening to Christmas music (and our wedding playlist😍 ) and being so so thankful that I feel better. If you’re wondering what POTS even is, I wrote a blog post a few months back explaining it-check it out at NicoleCarfagna.com!

It’s always disappointing when symptoms that had calmed down come back again. My potsy/ autonomic issues seem to be getting worse again after a brief respite. Feeling light-headed when I stand up quite a bit and dizzy sometimes. Plus my headaches and migraine attacks have got worse. Back to counting how much fluid I’ve drunk and sprinkling even more salt on all my food 🧂. Trying to work out why, but don’t think there is an answer. Possibly the weather getting warmer? Or my bladder waking me up at 5am almost everyday so lack of sleep? 🤷‍♀️. Has anyone else had pots symptoms calm down then flare up again? Any tips or tricks other than salt and water? Would appreciate any advice 😊. . #potsy #pots #potsie #posturalorthostatictachycardiasyndrome #potssyndrome #dysautonomia #autonomicdysfunction #orthostatichypotension #bloodpressure #lowbloodpressure #tiredgirl #wherethetiredgirlsare #chronicloveclub #spooniesunite #spoonie #eds #hypermobility #jointhypermobility #migraine #chronicmigraine #headache #chronicheadache #vestibularmigraine #interstitialcystitis #fibromyalgia #bladderpain #painfulbladder #bladderpainsyndrome #pelvicpain
