There is fear and uncertainty behind this mask. I want to see my family. I want to see my friends. I want to go shopping, bon fires and social gatherings. I want to go to school, I want to go to clinical, I want to continue my education. I want this to be over. I work at a level one trauma hospital in the only full-service pediatric unit in my state. I care for the immunocompromised, diabetic, asthmatic and at risk patients. A hospital that welcomes babies into this world and cares for the souls leaving, is always filled with patients, family, friends and visitors. Today, I entered a ghost town. No family, friends or visitors. From the minute I walk into the building I am required to put a mask on and sanitize my hands. I have to wear the same mask for my entire *12* shift. I am not allowed to change my mask unless it is visibly soiled. When I walk to my unit, I am walking alone and unfortunately that’s the way it should be. It’s a very scary, uncertain time for us all. It is important to keep your distance. Stay home. Don’t go to family gatherings and bon fires. Stay home in your pajamas and watch a movie. Stay home with your family. Stay home and relax. This is the only way we are going to change the trends. I want to be able to see my family, I want to be able to see my friends. I want to go back to school. I want to socialize with my friends and families. I want to do what you want to do. We need isolation. We need to get our community healthy and safe. Please stay home, it’s the only way we are going to change these numbers. While RNs, CNAs, RTs, MDs, Lab staff, nutrition staff, cleaning staff, EMTs, paramedics, Police officers and rest of the health care and first responders care for this infected, stay home and protect us.

The Chikungunya virus infects humans through the bite of a mosquito. It causes fever and joint pain. It is rarely fatal, but the symptoms can be severe, long-lasting, and debilitating. The symptoms of Chikungunya virus are similar to those of other diseases such as dengue fever. The symptoms normally appear just a few days after a mosquito has bitten an individual. The most common symptoms are: Fever (sometimes as high as 104 °F ) Joint pain Headache Muscle pain Rash Swelling around the joints #wisehealths #rakheyapnokakhayal #chikungunya #fever #jointpain #headache #rash #swelling #healthy #healthyfood #healthylifestyle #healthychoices #HealthyEating #healthyliving #healthylife #healthybreakfast #healthyhair #healthybody #healthcare #healthiswealth #healthcoach #healthymind

#PostCovid19 Book Review Ep.8: The Common Good by Robert Reich This book review begins my goal to help build a #PostCovid19 America. The Common Good is written by Robert Reich. Reich, a former Secretary of Labor writes about how our society is, can and could be just and moral. Many of the major systems in society ranging from government, education, business, healthcare, etc. have great things happening. But many times unethical people and situations overshadow these good things and at times have an adverse impact on the world around us. I chose this book because I believe this is the time to hit the reset button and analyze what should the "common good" look like going forward. https://youtu.be/Lsqu2VYnBYg Like, share, comment, and follow me at my Youtube Page. futuristic #covid_19 #coronavirus #quarantine #booktube #healthcare #medicine #science #government #technology #socialdistancing #politics

While the metaphor here may be a bit too close to home right now, understanding that our emotions infect those we lead is so important. Are you helping your people feel hope or hopelessness, possible or impossible, can or can't? And while you're doing that, seeking the support YOU need to be able to maintain a useful space for yourself and your loved ones. We can't be strong for others if we don't feed our spirit as well. #ferciouswarmth #leadership #learningleaders #headsandhearts #traceyezard #engagecollaborateact #keynotespeaker #professionalspeaker #author #mentor #educator #psychologicalsafety #trust #agilelearningcultures #workingcollaboratively #leaders #education #schools #healthcare #government #womeninleadership #melbourne #sydney #brisbane #newzealand

I was cooking on the grill tonight and I heard a car accident... I didn’t know how far away it was but it was close enough to be heard. It’s so funny, today I posted about helping the boys in blue on LinkedIn but you don’t want to forget the firefighters either. Before all of them, the first responders are you and your neighbors. When I ran from my grill to the accident, I found that the car flipped over in front of my street and the first responders were a middle-aged lady and I. We got two people out; a father and daughter. Maybe you can help a scenario or deescalate a situation by being the preemptive measure to an emergency situation. There were at least two dozen onlookers but just two helped. It was only after helping that I had any thought about coronavirus. It sucks we have to think about that now so be prepared to help anyone no matter the circumstance. Glove up/mask up so keep spares in your car in case you need to help someone. Don’t lose your humanity amidst the corona scare. #savinglives #caraccident #dinnertime #superchef #prepare #healthcare #humanity #humanityfirst #covid_19 #corona

#quarantinelifestyle has been real. What I know for sure, God is with us and allow him to be the source of your strength. This weekend I planned a picnic and packed our lunch, packed a few toys and games for eli; bubbles, bowling, football, music speaker and for 2 hours we got out the house and logged out from everything and enjoyed our afternoon. I found an area with no one close around and just enjoyed this time in nature. I encourage us all to take precautions, be smart but also enjoy your time with family and get creative in how you spend your time at home and engage. 💜 It can be enjoyable 🌻. Try Picnics, dance parties, movie night, games, painting party, cooking new recipes, learning something new, online courses, getting things done that always wanted to do and etc. Many blessings to everyone, ya'll be safe out there! . . Shouout to all my fellow #healthcare workers and others on the #frontline thank you. .💜 . . . #healthylifestyle #familytime #blessings #godisgood #encouragement #peaceandlove #survivingrona2020 #outdoorslover #faithoverfear

Standing in solidarity with all healthcare workers! Thank you for working bravely on the frontlines of #Covid19 . Doctors, nurses, nursing assistants, first responders, and janitors all deserve our support and solidarity. If you have masks or any personal protective equipment that you do not need, please donate it to your local hospital. If you are able, there are a ton of projects popping up to create masks for healthcare workers like @masksforheroes . Artwork by @pegamie

Just spent 12.5 hours with 𝐍𝐎 lunch on my unit which 1/2 of has turned into 𝑎𝑛𝑜𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑟 COVID ICU. We now have three ICUs dedicated to COVID r/o + positives. ⁣ ⁣ It’s all finally starting to settle, the previous terrifying now has become a new normal. Isn’t that strange? How humans we just adapt, grow and learn. ⁣ ⁣ Does this still suck? Yes. ⁣ ⁣ Will there be days where I cry again? Yes. ⁣ ⁣ But for now I am #steppingup , drying my hands out from so much hand washing and risking my health to come to work for you. ⁣ ⁣ I want to be here. I want to help, most of us we’re born to rise to these occasions no matter how scary. But please be patient with us, we are human. Our hearts hurt for our friends in different cities that are begging for protection, supplies and resources. For my friends in those positions, I am praying for you 🥺💕

No matter how difficult the days may get, I try to never forget the reason I became a nurse. . I am so thankful to work for an amazing health care system. I am thankful for all the doctors and coworkers present to help fight this pandemic. But most of all I’m so thankful for the amazing nurses by my side. The ones who watch me take awhile to put on/take off all my PPE the correct way to make sure I’m safe and don’t contaminate myself. The ones who watch every step and move I make while in the patients room to ensure we are doing everything correctly to limit aerosolizing the virus. The ones who run back and worth getting me the supplies and medications I need when I’m in a room so I don’t have to go in and out too many times to conserve PPE. The ones who cry with me and FaceTime with me after a shift to “debrief”. Because the truth is the only people who truly understand how bad this pandemic is, is those going through it and those along side us helping fight it. . But the hardest part is watching these patients go through this. They aren’t allowed any visitors. They are weak, anxious, and unable to breath. They are scared. Scared of not getting enough oxygen, scared of being intubated, and they are scared of dying. They sit in a room all day relying on the care of us. We have to bundle our care to limit the time in these covid rooms but I often feel emotional thinking should I have spent more time with them? Talked to them in person more versus the phone or FaceTime? Should I have held their hand longer or told them I’m here for them more? It IS as bad as they say it is. The media IS right when they said it’s bad. It DOES affect people of all ages. It DOES affect healthy people. So PLEASE do your part and stay home to help flatten the curve. PLEASE! & THANK YOU for all of my coworkers, friends, family, neighbors, & strangers. Without you, I could not do this. The days are long, both physically and emotionally exhausting, but I try to never lose sight of why I became a nurse in the first place. 💙 . #rn #covid #covid_19 #coronavirus #nurses #healthcare #stayhome #flattenthecurve

✨ Hello all! I wanted to give y’all a little intro/background of myself 👩🏼‍⚕️ and the tentative goals I have set to accomplish in the hopefully near future: 📈 . . . ✨I recently graduated from Cal Poly, SLO (GO MUSTANGS! ) 🐴 with an undergraduate degree in Dairy Science 🐮 . I absolutely loved my major and wouldn’t do it any other way. Cows are super cool animals 😎(SERIOUSLY ) and the people who work with them are equally as amazing. 👩🏼‍🌾 . . . ✨Upon graduating I went to a local JC to fine-tune my pre-reqs based on the list of PA schools I was applying to. 📚 Coming from a school on the quarter system a lot of my unit requirements weren’t met based on unit conversions. I would miss the requirement by .5 units sometime and you have NO IDEA how unbelievably frustrating that was. 😡🤯 . . . ✨While at my JC I started a pre-health club to help students 🤝who were interested in the medical field find their path and figure out specifically which type of med/field they liked. . . . ✨During my gap year I work as a pharmacy tech at my local VA, a NA at a primary care office, a scribe at an urgent care, and an MA at a pain management clinic (I KNOW IT’S ALOT ) . . . ✨GETTING TO THE GOOD STUFF: This year was my first year applying and I applied to about 5 schools and I GOT IN TO MY TOP CHOICE SCHOOL!!! 🎉 🎉🎉WOOT WOOT. I’ll be attending Touro University this fall and completing a dual degree of MSPAS/MPH (PA degree with a masters in public health ). . . . ✨I chose Touro University for a number of reasons which I will get into in a different post. With my medical degree I am hoping to explore primary care and the field of being a surgical PA. I’m super hands-on/ like getting my hands dirty and LOVE a good challenge. . . . ✨For those of you who are Pre-PA I would love to mentor you along the way no matter what stage you are in the process. It’s a tough road but it’s all worth it! . . . 🌡💊🩺 #physicianassistant #medicine #dermatologypa #medical #palife #healthcare #pa #womeninmedicine #paschool #surgery #premed #anatomy #wearfigs #physiology #microbiology #college #dermatology #physician #whitecoat #pastudent #determinedwomen #primarycare #babesinscrubs #surgicalphysicianassistant

I took this picture in early January, when I had an uninterrupted moment while on call during a 12 hour night shift. At that time I was following coronavirus trends + planning a trip to go to Bali. ⁣ ⁣ Fast forward to now. The trip to Bali has been postponed. I just finished working 7 12 hr night shifts. I’ve worked nights before but this past week I’ve been concerned about the toll working will have on my immune system given that I’m working in a setting where I could be exposed to coronavirus. ⁣ ⁣ I receive memos regarding COVID everyday. My hospital has made changes to prepare for an influx of patients. Visitors aren’t allowed and serious conversations regarding patient care are being held over the phone. My heart aches for my patients that are hospitalized alone without their loved ones who would otherwise be there. ⁣ ⁣ When I feel overwhelmed, I go look at my photos and reminisce on when things were different. I’m not sure when society will return to normal but I know we will get through this. We’re all in this together. 🙌To all my fellow healthcare workers stay strong and don’t forget about your self care. To the public wash your hands, don’t touch your face + please please please practice social isolation. It needs to be taken seriously. & remember that gargling with salt water is not going to kill coronavirus 🥴 ⁣ ⁣ #nurses #nursepractitioner #pandemic #nurselife #nightshiftlife #nursesunite #healthcare #beatcorona
