❕Skill Drill Saturday❕⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Bars: @lebertfitness use LittleT for 20% off ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Press to Handstand ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 1 )Straddle leg raises with roll up: Belly button to spine through entire drill. Focus on raising either your legs or bum as high as you can with no momentum 2 )Straddle wall mini press: Gradually work so that you are leaning more forwards and the legs are able to come closer to hands before the circle back up the wall. ⁣⁣ 3 )2 Point Pause negatives: Belly button to spine through entire drill. Focus on getting your legs as close to your body as possible while maintaining as neutral spine and then having your feet land close to your hands (eventually you can scoop through to straddle ) ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Advanced: (only 3-5 reps for the following ) ⁣⁣ *Great conditioning for those who already have their press or are very close and are struggling with the bottom portion of the press* ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 4 )Wall assisted tuck roll ups: The goal is to roll up in a tight tuck and to get hips over shoulders as much as possible without momentum. Keep arms straight the entire time and control the movement on the way down. ⁣⁣ 5 )Wall assisted straddle roll ups: The goal is to roll-up to a straddle handstand with only toes touching the wall. Keeping your core tight the entire time and lowering slowly to a straddle. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ BIGGEST TIP: If you do all 5 of these exercises your core should be on fire! I suggest always filming your drills so you have visual feedback and can see the areas you might be “cheating” on. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Tag a friend whose trying to get their press to handstand! We are so much focused on the acceleration aspect of the training that we unknowingly forget to train the deceleration part. . . 🔑Why we should train deceleration ? If the athelete is not able to absorb the force then he is exposed to injuries . In today's world atheletes are so much attracted toward speed, power and jumps , they unknowingly neglect the most important factor of braking . The most common injury site due to the change of direction is the ACL . . . 🔑What happens when an athelete is not able to decelerate or slow down ? He/she is more vulnerable to injuries if this is the case . Research has shown that the risk of injuries is decreased if the athelete slows down or stop with an ideal technique . . .
