✨Repost @thenutritiontea “When I say that dieting has a toll on the body I mean that in a mental and physical way. What has calorie counting contributed to? For me it gave me anxiety because I was always nervous about underestimating the amount. It contributed to me backing out of events with friends and family because I felt overwhelmed thinking of all the tracking that I would have to do.⁣ ⁣ That my friends is not healthy. There should always be some middle ground with food and your relationship with it. It’s okay to have goals that contribute to your health. But ask yourself what you are doing to achieve those goals. Are you counting every morsel of food because an app told you so? And then trying to exercise it off if you go 10 calories over? I remember doing that and that’s NEVER happening again.⁣ ⁣ There are so many things and words of advice I can tell you but I can’t say that it’s easy to forget what we learned. We’ve learned from childhood to diet to look a certain way. We’ve been told to replace our meals with shakes and smoothies. We’ve been told to watch the carbs. Coconut Cream Oatmeal 1/3 cup rolled oats 1 tsp coconut flakes 1/4 tsp cinnamon 1/4 tsp ginger 1/2 tsp vanilla extract 2 tbsp coconut cream 1 cup unsweetened coconut milk beverage (carton not can ) 2 tsp maple syrup or 1/2 a mashed banana Pinch of salt . Add all ingredients to a sauce pan and bring to a low simmer. Allow oats to cook while stirring continuously to help maintain creaminess of oats. Should cook in 4-5 minutes. Once at desired consistency, serve as desired. I topped mine with nectarines, blackberries, blueberries, chocolate tahini and cacao nibs. 😌 . . Making dinner tonight was super easy.. which was good cause today was crazy busy! Took veggies on hand and marinated some tofu, and a serving of @nupasta konjac fettuccine (only 25 cals per serving ).. annnnnd *mike drop* 🎤 .. dinner is done! I’m loving this nupasta for many reasons. It’s healthy, it’s low calorie, is made from a root vegetable.. so not carb heavy!, it’s convenient (no cooking necessary, just drain, rinse, heat, serve ), and the texture is a good alternative to pasta! Chicken Breast Made this yesterday. I usually eat chicken breast for breakfast. Being doing this for the past 1 year+++. Was on a weight loss journey First, calorie counting WORKS. Second, protein and fat increase sense of satiety. That's what I do for breakfast so that I don't overeat later in the day. Since MCO started, my breakfast has been more carbohydrate based and I felt better. So this last piece of chicken breast was converted to lunch/ dinner. No more chicken breast. Got a neighbour who was on a ketogenic diet and made fun of my calorie counting. ( I am not sure if it is actually wise to make fun of an epidemiologist though😆😆😆 afterall I have the ability to read actual research papers ). My take on this if we set aside the discussion if ketogenic diet healthy/unhealthy, the reality is it is an extremely difficult diet to follow. I sometimes doubt all these proponents of keto diet are really on a keto diet ( show me your complete dietary records, then I believe you ). Calorie counting increase awareness on food choices, and you will keep that awareness for a long term change. There are many ways to lose weight, but the basic concept is always CALORIE DEFICIT. In some of the research papers I read about ketogenic diet, that's what the people ended up doing. They are eventually in a calorie deficit diet because all the fat in a keto diet is giving a lot of satiety effect. They can't eat much. But, the author made some mathematic modelling and postulate the weight loss is greater than a calorie deficit of the same degree. I didn't check the actual model. But hey, all weight loss regime lead to the same place if there is CALORIE DEFICIT. Do what is best for yourself. #caloriecounting #ketogenicdiet #ketodiet #chickenbreast #kerabuayam

Honey bbq chicken bites😍 this is one of my top fave meals! ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ • I cut up a chicken breast into chunks 🐔 dipped each piece in egg, and then coated in breadcrumbs (I used 25g total for 4 syns🍞 ) and airfryed until cooked. ⁣ CAJUN PASTA 🍝 best meal everrrrrr ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ • For the chicken on top 🐔I cover a chicken breast in @spicentice cajun seasoning🌶 wrap it in tinfoil and airfry for about 20/25 mins until cooked!☺️ Then just slice it up and pop it on top of the pasta- the tinfoil keeps it moist (lol ) and its not dry at all!😝⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣• I boiled 80g of pasta (I weigh it dry otherwise I eat too much ) and when this is cooking I fry some onions🧅 and peppers in @verylazyfooduk garlic 🧄and @spicentice cajun seasoning🌶 When the pasta is cooked I drain it and add it to the pan with the onions, then I add a bit more cajun seasoning and for this one I used 75g of @eatlean protein cheese spread 🧀(HEXA or you could use any cheese spread, Philadelphia etc! ) Then I add a bit of water to loosen then stir all together until combined! 😍 Pop onto a plate, top with the chicken and a bit of fresh corriander🌿So easy and my fave on plan meal!🥳⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ GEMB20 gets you 20% off @spicentice ❤️AFF ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ #slimmingworld #sw #healthyeating #slimmingworlduk #swuk #caloriecounting #weightloss #synfree #lowcalorie #healthyextra #swinsta #food #swfriends #swfamily #syns #onplan #fitness #synfree #slimmingworldmafia #foodblog #foodoptimising #fooddiary #whatieat #onplan

With the permission of her mom, I wanted to highlight this beautiful little girl’s weight loss progress to not only inspire but spread awareness of the importance of starting kids early on living a healthy life! 🎉This princess has lost 27lbs in 20 weeks!⁣ ⁣. Watching her story had me in tears because it reminded me soooo much of myself growing up!⁣ ⁣. Not being able to keep up with other kids I often felt left out. I even quit ballet as a result of not being able to do what the other kids were doing.⁣ My mom saw the impact on me but since we come from a family where the words “healthy” or “diet” are like foreign words, she didn’t even know how to help me herself. And so I continued to pack on the pounds into adulthood.⁣ ⁣. This is why I chose to take control of my health after hearing the pediatrician voice her concern over my eldest son’s weight.⁣ ⁣. #throwbackthursday ! 🌞⠀ ⠀ I was quite shocked when I compared these two pictures but then I reminded myself there’s almost THREE STONE between them which means I’m almost at my first target weight 🥳. I’m honestly so excited, hard work and consistency honestly does pay off and slimming world is just amazing! ⠀ ⠀ Once I hit my first target weight (I have 3.5 lbs to go ) I’m going to see how I feel, focus on balance and manintaining and if I want to go to my second goal weight I can do that gradually whilst still rewarding myself for coming so far! ✨
