#breathing is a natural way to strengthen and balance every part of you. #breathwork is a life process. The #respiratory system is an ingenious aparatus in each of us that sends messages to the heart, brain and nervous system based on our present breathing pattern. Our Breathing effects every organ system and function in the body. Studies are now showing that when we change our breathing pattern we change the messages to the body. Generally the breath is a reflection of our emotional state. If we are afraid the breath is shallow and quick. When we are relaxed and open the breath is also relaxed and open. In my experience teaching breathing for over 20 years, Conscious Breathing is the most effective medicine for self healing, emotional maturity and radiant vitality. Breath may be used as a practice to reduce stress, anxiety, depression, nervous system disorders and inflammatory diseases. The power that made the body heals the body. Thanks to technological advancements in emergency medicine many lives are saved every day including my own my life when I had open heart surgery at the age of 4. Emergency medicine is for emergencies. Birth is not an emergency until it is. Life is not an emergency until it is. The body is made to heal itself and it does this very well. A question I often get asked is what supplements do I take in a day? The truth is it varies, but I do have a few staples based on testing I’ve done and things that help me feel and perform better. On waking, I rehydrate with @drmercola hydrogen water - for a boost in antioxidants and hydration. I also take 2 x @bioptimizer Kapex before doing some gentle fasted exercise - it boosts fat burning and energy. I then dive into a cold shower 🥶 which capitalises on the fat burning and wakes me up (apart from all of the other benefits of cold showering which will be in another post!!! ) At lunchtime I’ll generally have 3-4 Nordic Naturals Omega-3s. Omega-3s help to lower inflammation, and also aid in glymphatic drainage which is important given I have one copy of APOE4 ( putting me at higher risk ofAlzheimer’s ). Omega-3 is also great for skin and hair health! My DNA results show impaired MTHFR gene and so for methylation support I take @designsforhealth homocysteine support. The B Vitamins also boost my energy levels My nighttime stack incorporates @biooptimizers Magnesium Breakthrough. Most of us are deficient in magnesium and this contains 7 different forms. Podcast with Wade Lightheart who founded this amazing supplement company coming soon... Magnesium output has been shown to peak at midday in some studies so I often split the dose - half in the morning and half at night which helps me sleep. I also take N’Acetyl Cysteine which is a precursor to glutathione - our body’s master antioxidant. It’s a bit more cost effective than taking liposomal glutathione. I also cycle on and off of @purehealthsupplements glutathione as it’s the best one I’ve found and the liposomal delivery increase the bioavailability massively. No Vitamin D at the moment as a recent blood test shows my levels from spending so much time outside are very good. Will most likely start supplementing as we head into winter.... This is of course in addition to eating a low carb, whole food plant based diet with lots of protein and healthy fats. What’s your daily stack? 👇🏼

Last post of the simplicity series and warning... there is no stretching recommended in this post 🚨🚨 Very rarely would I advise someone to stretch, it’s only when they tell me they feel get a lot of benefit from, if that’s the case then stretch away 👍🏻 However, Why are you stretching? Do you actually need to stretch?? 🤷🏻‍♂️ The chances are you don’t. What you need to do is put your body in a more appropriate position to function better. Golf is an active movement, muscles are being actively used through their full ranges (hopefully ) and being used explosively. So rather then stretching, mobilise! ✔️Train to full ranges of motion ✔️Add pauses or elongate the downward motion of the exercise ✔️Address any potential weaknesses ✔️Utilise breathing drills to desensitise the nervous system @smgolfphysio

The reason I started saving my favourite memories in my highlights is that is what I refer back to when I’m feeling down. The moon. La luna. Just appreciating our wonderful satellite. A picture i like to meditate over is sitting on the beach, the ocean in front of me. The sand is white and warm. I am breathing slow deep breaths, feeling the salty water of the ocean in the air. The water is in different shades of blue, the waves are softly dissolving on the shore. The only sound i perceive is the oceans sound. On my left side looking at the sky i can see some stars and the full moon. It’s not really dark yet, but the sun has already set. The horizon is still bright, the sky gets darker in blueish colours looking up. The moon shines bright, illuminated through the suns light. Strong enough to impact the ocean, causing ebb and tide. Adductor release 🏋️ 👉🏻Massage therapists don’t typically touch it and it’s too hard to reach with a foam roller or lacrosse ball. 👉🏻The Medicine ball has a large enough surface area to approach this release gently. 😌This can help relieve low back and hip pain, due to its attachment at the pelvis, and can release the pelvic floor which just feels fantastic. Lay prone (face down ) on the ball. Find the most tender spot and keep the ball there! DO NOT roll up and down. Tight Back???? Share if you know someone with a tight back. Here is an exercise (positional CARs with flexion emphasis ) that may help loosen up your back. Like all of your back. Also feel some abs you will probably get some glutes and adductors as well. possibly a posterior shoulder burn too. maybe a little pronation and supination of the feet as well. 1. really light band 2. back against wall, don't lose low back contact throughout exercises. 3. exhale let ribs sink but sternum stay facing fwd. lower self to about 3o degrees hip flexion. feel posterior leg and but muscles engage. ER shoulders and supinate hands. 4. full inhale without rib flare 5. segmentally Flex as far as you can, then rotate as far as you can, then slowly extend as you continue to attempt to rotate.......yatta yatta yatta 6. maintain a a relatively full inhale while shallow nasal breathing throughout exercise. Maintain shoulder position relative to torso through out exercise you should notice your weight shifting through your feet. Give it a try! 🛑avoid sharp, grabbing pain🛑 #decompress

Us human beings always have this tendency of holding onto things, even when they no longer serve us! We hold on tightly to our things, our feelings, people and even to our breath! . Breath work in yoga is called Pranayama and Prana in sanskrit means life force! By holding onto your breath, you are only limiting the fresh life force you let in! . Take a moment every day, even if you have only a few minutes and practice this little exercise to remind yourself of letting go, and to fill yourself up with some life force! . Sit in a comfortable upright position. Take deep breaths and expand your rib cage. As you exhale, try to empty all the air from your chest. If you want to take it to the next level, count to 5 as you inhale (continue breathing in until 5 ) and count to 7 as you exhale (continue breathing out until 7 ). .
