365 x 10 skwats With how inconsistent I am on squats I think it’s actually helped me. Without much effort or focus towards squatting I’m confident with just a little bit of tweaking I could hit 500+. I only squat once every 2 or 3 weeks but it’s fairly intense and I think that’s been what works best for me. Long noodle leg boiz ftw. As long as year to year I’ve progressed I’m happy and I’m well above track to do so this year. Plus it’s nice not having to be miserable trying to walk around after leg day all the time. Still nowhere near firing on all cylinders but got a surprising top spot on the whiteboard with the old shoulder press. Heavy Grace was brutal and cardio levels are shocking but still RX’d it within the time cap. Load isn’t EVERYTHING Hi Today I want to talk about putting up numbers in the weight room Progressive overload is going to be part of the equation that yields strength and body composition goals This can be achieved by increasing/getting better at repetitions, technique, tempo, and honestly, how you FEEL. It doesn’t always come down to weight on the bar, and it shouldn’t. 🚨progressive overload = increasing factors over a period of time, such as workload to stimulate muscle growth and strength gain : basically, making sure you don’t get too comfy lifting the same amount of weight/doing the same thing In terms of lifting for health/strength/performance/aesthetic: how much you lift becomes irrelevant when you start to compensate technique, form, or your programmed tempo. So remember to put your ego aside... your long term technique, joints, muscles, and results will thank you✨ Here is me back squatting for the first time in 5 months because of an Injury.. I wanted to put up more weight badly but knew it was not in my best interest to do so. LISTEN to your body. Push when it’s appropriate, back off when it’s appropriate. Not every day needs to be the best training day ever, or a new PR (it rarely should be )

You're never too strong to warm-up with the bar. ⁠ ⁠ Jumping right into your working weight can decrease your potential to hit a PR. Meet Me At The Bar! Let's talk grip in the #barbell Overhead Press . Often, even though it may be uncomfortable, most folks don't tend to consider that the overhead press may not feel great due to how their hands and wrists are positioned on the bar. . Start with a wide open hand placed roughly shoulder width apart on the bar. Now turn both hands downward so the thumbs point down. Now tightly wrap your hands around the bar and move under the bar. . VERY IMPORTANT: When you position yourself under the bar, make sure your hands DO NOT let loose of the bar. You should maintain that tight grip and the bar will move with your hands. This helps to create the tension and stability we are going for in the overhead press. . This tension, can lead in a solid or stable wrist, which helps keep a stable elbow, which helps keep a stable shoulder. . So what else do I dislike apart from people stomping on the Assisted Pull-Up Machines? 🤔 . . Sore/Fatigued Hip Flexors! A lot of beginners in Martial Arts often complain about sore Hip Flexors after a session of non-stop Kicking 😩 But we have a simple Conditioning exercise which can help build Hip Flexor Endurance! (Also as a side effect, faster consecutive kicks! ) 🥋 . . Myself, Shamandem @sham1_fitness and Fake Latino @adamord19 decided to do Super Sets x 4 on Banded Hip Twists (100 Reps each side ) followed up by 10 Power Kicks each leg ✌️😎 . . Banded Hip Twists are done by standing in stance and rotating the hips fast, following a 180° trajectory while holding on to an anchored Resistance Band. The kicks are added to release tension on the synergy muscles to the Hip Flexors! (A side effect to this are better kick technique from repetition! ) . . The Hip Twists also forces your body to not crunch towards your leg everytime you throw a kick, removing this bad habit removes a weak link in the Kick's kinetic chain 💪 . . 💪🏼ONLINE COACHING🤓 I have teamed up with a very sleek and professional platform @truecoach .co. Through this platform I am able to write clients programmes, keep them accountable to them. This will include the nutrition plan as well for guidance. Each week COVID-19 comes up with another hurdle for me to jump. Even more so for fitness industry! One week I am having clients train and do amazing from the private studio, to them going into lockdown and brakes come on. 2020 you been a huge test and constant challenge but that is only making more versatile. Lesson to kids at school, I got a U (yes a grade U ) at A level business….. to now running my own business online and in person with multiple avenues of income. I love my job and would not change it for the world! Clients now range from being allowed to do one to one sessions face to face (socially distanced ). To clients that are dual, see me once a week and then programme them through @truecoach .co for rest of the week.
