Another amazing Christian group, but this one isn't only for those in the spa and wellness industry. I'm not quite sure how I ended up in this Facebook group as I'm not a mum (unless you count my cat, Eva? ), but I am so grateful to be part of such a supportive and wonderful group of women. @workingchristianmom #Christianwomen #workingChristianmom #graceupongrace #Christcentred #childofGod #hisgracegirls #whoIfollow #followtheleader #nameandpraise #selfmadetogether #beautytribe #spatribe #spaindustry #spalifestyle #beautyindustry #academyofspawellness #GritandGrace

I've been reading a ton of World War I and II books recently and quite honestly I'm shaken every time I finish a book. While they are fiction, the authors have done a great job bringing history to life. These stories combined with my Honor Flight time talking with WWII veterans their experiences remind me of the great sacrifice so many men and women made for our freedom. My friends, brothers, and sisters in service who have given their lives for the United States and other countries. Whether men were drafted or volunteered for service, they gave their lives for what we hold dear. Over the last few months, many of the freedoms we hold dear have been taken away or given up willingly. The truth of the saying "you never know what you have until you lose it" ring clear right now. I fought in the Navy for freedom because I believe in it. I still believe in those same freedoms and this weekend I'm focusing on remembering the sacrifices that were made for the rights for the freedoms we have here in America. Ultimately, I'm thanking God for the freedom I have, knowing that those sacrifices were a replication of the greatest sacrifice of Jesus dying on the cross for the freedom that I have to have a relationship with him and freedom from hell when I die. We have so much to be thankful for and I encourage you to pause this weekend and think about both of these examples of sacrifice that we witness.

Do you have a mission statement for social media?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It is easy to speak quickly out of emotions in a way that is not honoring to God. Social media is one place where it could easy to respond in such a way because there are many times when posts oppose our views. This leads to going against what Paul says in Colossians 4:6, which says, “Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you at to answer each person.”⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ What is written on social media should be gracious and speaking out lovingly, rather than being led by emotions and not taking time to think.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Everything written is a direct reflection on us as a person and our business. If you don't have a mission statement about what and why you are posting on social media, I encourage you to create one.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I've been convicted recently about responses to things I've written out of emotion or arguing for a point and that doesn't align with my mission statement. I'm going to be taking time to think about it and rework why I'm posting on social media.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ . #christianwomeninbusiness #createdforthis #workingchristianmom #bossmom #bossmomlife #agodlywoman #christianentrepreneur #momentrepreneur #designalifeyoulove #creativelifehappylife #theimperfectboss #savvybusinesswomen #womenwholead #businessgrowth #gritandgrace #businesscoachforwomen #christianlifecoach #christiancoach #twincitiescreativecollective #wisconsinblogger #minnesotablogger

We're seeing progress.⠀ .⠀ It is crazy how much healing can be found through simple lifestyle changes and wholistic wellness.⠀ .⠀ With the health issues I am facing, the traditional approach would likely be very complicated. Expensive tests, treatments, questions, medications, specialists.⠀ .⠀ These things are all well and so so good. I am very thankful to have them in my back pocket if the need arises. But so far, we are able to slowly find answers and healing in a wholistic way.⠀ .⠀ The symptoms are minor but their combination is a lot, and more pop up every month: low energy, food sensitivities, major mood swings, intense feelings of overwhelm, anxiety, weight gain, dabilitating stress, bloating, depression, acne, exhaustion, despair, constipation, inconsistent cycles.⠀ .⠀ A lot of the problem is simply that some parts of my body are in need of extra support as they work to heal themselves. So I am supporting. I am supplementing, and eating well, and cutting out toxins, and buying organic, and prioritizing sleep, and removing stress wherever I can. It is a long process but the results and healing will be much more long term. The goal isn't a band-aid or a quick fix. It is health. It is supporting true healing. It is consistent.⠀ .⠀ So thankful. Thankful that I am taking steps now to prevent major illness later. Thankful for companies that make powerful supplements. Thankful for healthy foods, and non-toxic household products. Thankful for wise friends, and natural options.⠀ .⠀ Slowly. Very slowly I am beginning to feel change. Emotional change, mental change, physical change. And all I have done is make some simple changes. ❤️⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ #postpartumlife #postpartumbelly #motherhoodintheraw #postpartumhealing #momofthree #holisticwellness #holisticlife #postpartum #naturalhealth #christiancreative #healthymom #christianmom #healthyliving #workingchristianmom #healthyhappylife #wellnessjourney #nourishyourself #joyfulmamas #thisismotherhood #motherhoodinspired #crunchymama #crunchylife #mamastrong #shebelieved #spokanewa #pnw #wanderwashington #authenticmotherhood

Made it through another 5-week course! Turned in the final and the last paper tonight. This final was fueled by @luvicecreamllc 😆 Their new dairy cream ice cream is amazing. It's made without sugar so if you need a splurge, there you go. I've been doing more stress eating recently. It's so hard not to and I know there are several of you who get it. Tomorrow is a brand new day and I'm focusing on getting outside to walk or walk on the treadmill and drinking more water in the next few weeks. What's your health/wellness goal for the next week?

Yesterday I woke up and my heart was racing. It was a little scary and it made it really hard to focus on anything because of the anxiety I felt. Holistically-minded and recognizing the whole body is connected means understanding the heart is connected to the brain. I knew the link between the heart and the brain and how when the heart beats so fast that it can sometimes be linked with anxiety. As someone who has struggled with anxiety, I've made a few lifestyle changes to help my body be less anxious. One big one is cutting out caffeine. Caffeine is a stimulant which can make your heart beat really fast if you have too much. Focus on my water intake. A symptom of dehydration is rapid heartbeat (thanks WebMD ). If I need to drink water but don't really want to, I'll add Young Living's Vitality Drops or a drop of essential oil for flavor. Breathe deeply, sometimes adding a drop or two or essential oils to help calm myself down. Peace and Calming is a favorite here. Breathing in through the nose, out through the mouth. Put on worship music and pray. This is last but is usually accompanying the other steps. Questions about getting started using essential oils to love your heart? Drop them below. P.S. I'm not a doctor, nor is this medical advice. If you have issues, you should talk with your doctor or naturopath.

Today has been tough. I've felt anxious in my heart all morning. School lasted 30ish minutes. I'm nervous about getting my final done, feel the weight of 6 weeks inside my house and of course, have my period (yay hormones ). I read Eph 1:19-23 this morning and these verses stood out to me. I hope they strengthen and encourage you as they did me. "I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power 20 that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms. 21 Now he is far above any ruler or authority or power or leader or anything else—not only in this world but also in the world to come. 22 God has put all things under the authority of Christ and has made him head over all things for the benefit of the church. 23 And the church is his body; it is made full and complete by Christ, who fills all things everywhere with himself."

(Your Values are Important ) From my final paper on Biblical Perspectives and Modern Marketing. One of the easiest and best ways I have found to integrate scripture, ethics, and modern marketing is by weaving them into my values. Values are “the foundational beliefs that anchor our lives, the things that matter to us, the nonnegotiable characteristics that most clearly define our identities” (Collins, 2002, p. 140 ). My personal values include integrity, authenticity, family, timeliness, and commitment. A Christian’s core identity in Christ reveals itself in their values and their values drive their lives, including how they conduct their lives. As a marketer, my values come out in how I market. In Matthew 12:34, it says “For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of” (NIV, 2011 ). The result of being a Christian who holds Jesus in her heart is that through the way I run my business and my marketing, the Christian values come out, whether or not I am talking about faith or Jesus. As I live a Christ-focused life, the evidence is seen. When I run my business according to my values, my business aligns with Jesus and brings him glory. Working for his glory is important. *For more on values and how to identify and live them out, you can go to my blog.

Our body is our biggest organ. Our skin soaks in what lands on it - including our feet. When we use toxic cleaners, we soak that into our body and it takes effect. Toxic chemicals in conventional household cleaners vary in their severity – from acute (immediate ) hazards such as skin or respiratory issues, chemical burns or watery eyes to chronic (long term ) hazards such as cancer, fertility issues, ADHD, compromised immune system and more. Most toxic chemicals found in household cleaners fall into these categories: ➕Carcinogens – which cause or promote cancer ➕Endocrine disruptors – which mimic human hormones and cause false signals within the body and lead to issues such as infertility, premature puberty, miscarriage, menstrual issues, ADHD and even cancer. ➕Neurotoxins – which affect brain activity and cause issues such as headaches and memory loss Join me tomorrow night to learn more about what you CAN do to make your house safer for all who live in it. I've been not wanting coffee as much recently. It's sad for me because I love coffee. When I asked Dr. Z about this, he said it was typical because your body starts craving things with more nutrients. So here I am on a Saturday morning drinking matcha with a lot of french vanilla sweet drops. Not what I'd ever thought, but here we are. What are your beverage go-tos that aren't coffee? I need some ideas.

I started dieting since I was 13. I hated my body in middle school and high school. In the Navy, I had to stay a certain weight, which I couldn't. When weigh-ins came, I would have to do really unhealthy weight cutting. This included supplements that caused my heart to race. It was not healthy. Over the last few years since getting out of the Navy, I've worked on being healthy instead of skinny. This switch has not gotten rid of the baby weight that's still left from the last two kids, but it has given me an appreciation for my body and gratitude for the time I've spent investing in my health and wellness. This includes not just cutting sugar and gluten but adding supplements that are good for my body such as magnesium and vitamin D. While this is a lot harder, I don't regret it.

Hats off to all you moms and dads at home schooling and running businesses, plus doing all the rest! I've had some questions about schedules, rhythms and routines. Here are some tips: - Have constants in your schedule like wake up, brush teeth, start oils diffusing. - Write down your todos list and highlight what can be done quickly when you have little pockets of time. - Don't be hard on yourself - my girlfriends who homeschool full time are having a hard time with everything right now. - Give yourself permission to rest and take down time. Don't push because you feel like you need to do things all the time (you'll burn out ). - Delegate what you can to your spouse and your kids. Believe me, they can help you! - Create a realistic day with the expectation that it will change. Be flexible in your schedule but still have a set schedule. Allow change to happen and be okay with it. If you have any other questions, feel free to leave them in the comments. I'm happy to help!

Did you know, between aerosol sprays, electric plug-ins, candles, oil diffusers, wax melters, and other products, the U.S. air freshener market will pull in $1.8 billion in 2015, and these products are used in about 75% of households, says the National Resources Defense Council (NRDC ). According to Anne Steinemann, Ph.D., a professor of civil engineering at the University of Melbourne who has studied extensively the health impacts of fragranced household products, one-quarter of the ingredients in air fresheners are classified as toxic or hazardous. “Ultimately your risk depends on exposure,” she says. "You don’t have to have symptoms. Just because it doesn’t kill you, it doesn't mean it’s not harming you. Some effects are not immediately obvious.” 1,4-Dichlorobenzene is a chemical that can be found in the blood of 96% of Americans. It has been linked to lung damage, is a known carcinogen, and it is an E.P.A. registered pesticide. Studies found it to increase rates of asthma. It can be found in the majority of air fresheners, toilet deodorizers, and mothballs. When you switch to diffusing essential oils and invest in non-toxic Thieves cleaner, you eliminate all those nasty chemicals that can hurt your lungs. Plus, it's actually cheaper! When diffusing you only use 6 drops of oil which lasts between 4 and 6 hours. When you buy one bottle of $22 Thieves cleaner, it makes 22 bottles of cleaner! Who is ready to make the switch to cleaner products for the health and love of your lungs?

I accidentally spent $42 on wild rice this weekend. 🤦‍♀️ Yup. Bulk bin at the natural food store got me. But you know what - as much as I regret spending that much on rice, I'm using what I got for God's glory. I'd already planned to make wild rice soup today because my mom blessed me with leftover Easter ham. In texting with a friend she shared she was having a hard day. Her mom's got stage 4 cancer and it's a treatment week (hard, hard stuff ). I felt impressed to make extra and share it with them. So that's what I'm going to do because God knows, I've got plenty of rice. Friend, where is God impressing on you to work to touch others with what you already have? Out of obedience to use what he's provided, we can bless others. Sometimes it might even cost $42. 🤷‍♀️ And that's ok.

My favorite part of a wellness-based lifestyle is the outcome! It's not an easy button to push, it takes routines to take vitamins daily and roll oils every single day. However! It is amazing to feel awake after a great night of sleep. It's so awesome when you can support your emotions and those of your family. It also tastes delicious and it's colorful and beautiful. There are so many benefits to running after wellness. I'm so glad you're joining me here andif you have questions, I'm happy to answer them!

A few years ago REJOICE was my word of the year. What I learned in that year was that joy is intentional. Just like you must make the choice to love others, you also have to decide to be joyful. These are so many Bible verses about rejoicing and being full of joy that it's easy to see joy is important. As I continue to seek out joy, I want you to join me. I'm hosting a 6-day encouragement series through text messages and I want you to join in! It incorporates rolling on the oil Joy, text messages for me on an area to focus on each day to bring joy into your home and life, and a scripture meditation that reminds us that Jesus is where we find true joy. If oils aren't your thing, it's ok! If you aren't a Young Living member, I have 10 Joy rollers to give out and I'll send it. We start April 20. Our children are watching. . This past year I decided to make an attitude change. I realized that I was acting frustrated around my kids way too often. Even if I kept my temper and didn't raise my voice, I would get frustrated, annoyed and upset about silly things-- often things that toddlers can't always help. Like spilling milk, or getting underfoot, or walking into corners, or running into each other. Just because I've reminded or warned them, I assume that they should just get it right. . But I started to notice bad habits forming. Whenever I got caught in a pattern of frustration, the kids' attitudes would start take a turn for the worse. They were watching. So I decided to try to get through one day without showing frustration around my kids. It was hard. Almost impossible. It took a few tries, but I did it. Then I tried to make it 2 days. Then 3 and so on until I went a whole week without showing frustration or annoyance. Don't get me wrong, I did have moments when I was upset but I did not show my kids. . Our kids are watching, learning social cues, mirroring behavior, doing everything we do. If I get upset about every little thing, even if I have "good reason" to be upset then my kids will do the same. My 3 year old may be fussing because he is hungry. He has "good reason" to be upset, but is it acceptable to throw a big fit and wallow in the fussing? No. It is understandable, but not acceptable. . Is it understandable when I get upset, or frustrated, or annoyed? Yes! We are human, we all fail, we all fall short. BUT as soon as I allow that understandable emotion to become an acceptable or common emotion, there is an issue. . I love my kids, I love my kids so much that I make sure they have lots of opportunity to turn their emotions around. But they do need to turn it around. This is also part of life. So I need to lead the way, I need to be the example, I need to be the bigger person for the sake of my children. Will I get it right every time and always keep the frustration in check? No. Again, I am not perfect. But I will keep trying because it is my responsibility as their mama. ❤

Is there anything more natural and beautiful than carrying a living babe inside of you; feeling the joy and relief of first holding her in your arms; and then continuing to be the biggest source of sustenance and comfort throughout nursing or feeding? I can't think of anything. . Being such a huge and important role in the conception and nurturing of life is so majestic to me. It is the most important job in the world. What would the world be like without life? I am so humbled to have been allowed to participate in something so eternally important. I do not take it for granted. So I will keep on pouring out gratitude and wonder at this amazing GIFT that is motherhood. . . . . . #postpartumlife #postpartumbelly #motherhoodintheraw #postpartumhealing #momofthree #holisticwellness #holisticlife #postpartum #naturalhealth #christiancreative #christianmoms #healthymoms #workingchristianmom #healthyhappylife #wellnessjourney #nourishyourself #joyfulmamas #thisismotherhood #motherhoodinspired #crunchymama #crunchylife #stayathomejob #mamastrong #shebelieved #spokanewa #pnw #wanderwashington #authenticmotherhood #healthyliving

I was 8 weeks postpartum from having Grace when I took the picture on the left. Although it doesn’t show it on my face, I was excited to start a new journey! ⁣ ⁣ The next day, I pressed play on my first workout. I was 4 minutes into the warm up, paused, and started crying. All of a sudden the excitement left, and ALL I saw was the hard; the mountain I had to climb to reach my goals. ⁣ ⁣ I felt defeated, and weak. I remember saying “this was a mistake” I felt that way FOUR minutes in. As you can see, I needed to do some MAJOR mindset work! ⁣ ⁣ I snapped the second picture yesterday, 3 years + into this journey. A journey that is never ending because I stopped chasing a look, and started chasing the feeling. ⁣ ⁣ I’m super proud that she ⬅️ decided to keep going. ⁣ ⁣ YOU know you can do it! I know there is something in YOUR soul, in your heart that is saying, “you can, you are so capable.” ⁣ ⁣ The only way UP the mountain, is through the valley; one small step at a time. ⁣ ⁣ Start when you’re too busy. ⁣ Start when you don’t think it’s the ‘right time. ⁣ Start when it’s not perfect. ⁣ Start when the mountain seems so high. ⁣ ⁣ Keep going, stand back up! And if you need someone to stand with you, id love for us to chat. It’s be a honor to serve and guide you through your own journey!🧡⁣ ⁣ #momstrongmovement #momstrong #believeyoucanmakeadifference

For the Joy - Monday fun. Teaching, painting my nails with @taylormadepolish , meal planning and drinking coffee out of my #createdforthis mug. Meal planning keeps us eating healthy foods and saves me a lot of headache from last minute food prep. Joy is found when you look for it and I'm finding joy today in the simplicity of painting my nails and taking care of food planning. What are you finding joy in?

I think I’ve figured out what’s missing in my life ...⁣ ⁣ INSTANT RESULTS.⁣ ⁣ I stacked all this wood with my mother-in-law this morning and man-oh-man there is something SO satisfying about seeing the results of your work immediately. ⁣ I was on like a stacking-wood-High after. Break out the bubbly! 🍾⁣ LOOK WHAT I DID 👏🏻⁣ ⁣ Most of life isn’t like that stack of wood. ⁣ ⁣ I don’t know about you but my two year hasn’t said: “Hey mom thanks for raising me” yet 😆⁣ ⁣ Or could you imagine what it would feel like if everything you listed sold the same day??⁣ Talk about energizing.⁣ I would be a hustle machine.⁣ ⁣ Most days though, I just gotta keep the faith. ⁣ Or keep working even when I don’t have the faith lol. ⁣ ⁣ Have you done anything instantly gratifying lately??⁣
