French Netflix horror show ‘ #Marianne ’ currently holds a fresher than fresh 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. Having binge-watched the show over three days myself, I must say I found little to nil fault with the resplendent show that felt more like an enthralling, adrenaline rush right from the opening scene. Marianne serves as quite the deus ex machine considering the dearth of good horror on television, with impressive dubbing that barely ever deters the non-French speaking viewer away from the gory premise of the teeth-jittering drama. Like ‘The Haunting Of Hill House,’ ‘Marianne’ is pure emotion; the protagonist Emma is a quirky, free-spirited author who quickly realises whatever she’s published for fictions fun actually becomes morbidly true; a boy in Korea stabs his parents to death - mirroring a similar story from one of Emma’s novels. We realise that Emma’s books about demonic activity are actually based on her nightmares, and after an incident back home beckons the novelist to return, you’ll see blaring Stephen King prompts as we’re taken through the chilling story of #Marianne herself. It’s a winning show from me, but don’t watch it alone (please ). 💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀
