The Gentlemen: After two disappointing studio blockbusters, Guy Ritchie returns to the British-Gangster genre that put him on the map to begin with. While not on the same level as Lock Stock, Snatch or RocknRolla, The Gentlemen bolsters enough of the classic Guy Ritchie tropes and an exquisite pedigree of talent to make it an entertaining romp. The cast is what makes this movie. Matthew McConaughey, Charlie Hunnam, Henry Golding, Colin Farrell and Hugh Grant make for marvellous rogues, while Michelle Dockery and Jeremy Strong shine in supporting roles. The story offers a good abundance of twists and thrills, even from the opening. This is not a movie you can start 10-15 minutes after it originally starts and expect to know everything as it goes along. If you know Ritchie’s brand of storytelling, you have to start from the beginning and follow through to the closing shot. Overall, The Gentlemen is an exquisitely entertaining romp from Guy Ritchie. While not on par with his earlier work, there’s enough to ensure it leaves you feeling entertained. BRAVO🙌 can’t stand this entitled bozo.......Rp• @2crazyvegans Everywhere you look there is advertisement for animal abuse. The new commercial for the #lincolnaviator2020 is no different. Shame on companies that continue to promote and include cruelty to animals in their ads. Not only does Lincoln’s new commercial promote fishing and the fur industry, they also use a well known animal abuser to do it. #matthewmcconaughey #actor #animalabuser #hunter #killer #lincoln #hookem #longhorns #texas #instagram #dollypartonchallenge #colossalmedia #thegentlemen #guyritchie #movie #charliehunnam #hughgrant #henrygolding #colinfarrell #posterspys #theladydockers #dallasbuyersclub #magicmike #whiteboyrick #jimmykimmel #mud #tropicthunder #veganshit #tmz

“The Gentlemen” is as excellent a Guy Ritchie film as we’ve seen from him in the past with richly layered and contextualized characters populating a massive game of chess, fueled not by cannabis, but by brinksmanship and control.” 🎥 4 out of 4 stars- Ben Cahlamer, Phoenix Film Festival

I know the BRITS use the word SMART but I'm going to use the word CRISP because everything was sharp and clean. The Gentlemen was CRISP. The actors delivered CRISP performances and the style was for a better word, CRISP. @sammymangopants1 and @kayteefour I KNOW you'll just drool over these suits. Even the jumpsuits. I only wish there was more of this style in everyday life. I think it was Hugh Grants best performances to date. Matthew was his Matthew self but I think Colin Farrell may have stolen the show. Michelle Dockery is a QUEEN and we all know who the true lion KING is in the jungle. Guy Ritchie has a style that I completely appreciate. I think his adaptation of King Arthur was better and the soundtrack was one of my favorites, but The Gentlemen had enough tongue and cheek, not to mention being able to use the C word in a less offensive and casual way. None the less, if you love any of the actors in this film, buy a ticket, turn off your phone, and marvel in their performances. #movies #thegentlemen #matthewmcconaughey #hughgrant #guyritchie #sequel #miramax #film

🍿 • An American Gangster (McConaughey ) in England is ready to sell off his giant marijuana empire and settle down with his wife. When other interested parties attempt enter the transaction it sets off a wild chain of events that no one could have expected. • Thrilled to see Guy Ritchie come back to his roots making gangster comedies. After his run in CGI-centric films I was a little worried, but it didn’t disappoint. The pacing was perfect, dialogue was Shakespearean, and the comedy was laugh out loud. Hugh Grant and Charlie Hunnam absolutely kill it. I did like McConaughey as the protagonist, but the script didn’t really call for him to felled his acting chops. Can safely say this is the first really entertaining release of the year. • #matthewmcconaughey #charliehunnam #hughgrant #colinfarrell #guyritchie #stx #cinema #film #movie #review #amctheaters

The Gentlemen: @guyritchie 's return to the gangster genre is frenetic, twisty and completely unconventional for a story that is VERY conventional. The story is that Mickey Pearson ( Matthew Mcconaughey ) wants to sell his reefer business to a Oklahoma billionaire but it isn't that easy and a whole lot of chaos starts happening which brings us new characters that get entangled into this mayhem . That one 2 minute clip y'all probably witnessed is not a spoiler believe me watch it because you'll be fine . The movie feels like might need decaf for all the rigmarole it puts you through to show you how clever and slightly meta it can be , spicing up events to make the movie more exciting and movie business talk . All the talk about this movie being hilarious is such bollocks since there's only a few times it was either amusing or mildly funny . The performances are good especially Hugh Grant ( who should tell stories more often ) and Colin Farrell ( who is just great 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 ) . If you are easily offended and of Asian descent, i don't know how you're going to handle this movie because if you are asian you get a horrible wrap . I wasn't bored but when it comes down to it , the execution is the only reason the story pops at all cause the story by itself is extremely standard . Overall : See it if you are a Guy Ritchie gangster comedy fan, if you aren't then just stay home or have your bestie just act out the movie for you .

I don’t normally hang out in arcades, but I just finished watched The Gentlemen at the theater. It definitely wasn’t as good as Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels, Sherlock Holmes, or Snatch, but it was one of Guy Ritchie’s better recent films. And it was probably Colin Farrell’s funniest role, aside from maybe his performance in In Bruges. However, Matthew McConaughey felt a little...flat. Almost like he was just playing himself. 🤷‍♂️. Anyway, I’d give it a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5. . . . . . . #thegentlemen #guyritchie #ncg #movie #moviereview #charliehunnam #matthewmcconaughey #colinfarrell #hughgrant #lansing #movietheater #lockstockandtwosmokingbarrels #snatch #film #filmreview #indiefilm #filmmaker #arcade #picturebyiphone #instareview #fitnerd

Day 26 When director Guy Ritchie told Brad Pitt that he would be playing a boxer, Pitt became concerned because he had just finished shooting Fight Club and did not want to play the same type of role again. Pitt took the role anyway because he wanted to work with Ritchie so badly.

The Gentlemen (2020 ) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ IMDb rating: 8.1/10 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ POSITIVE COMMENTS: - The dialogue is whip smart. - Okay, full disclaimer: I love @guyritchie . I think he's a *great* director. His movies always have a thrilling pace, great cinematography and storylines which he contorts and twists so masterfully that you're never really sure what's going to happen next. - While action movies can (almost ) never be described as "boring", they can definitely be overwhelming. @thegentlemen avoids this by peppering in moments of actual laugh-out-loud comedy. - The score was incredible, really enhancing the movie. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ NEGATIVE COMMENTS: - In my opinion, @henrygolding 's character remains a little...2D. I think his storyline should have been expanded a bit. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ BONUS COMMENTS (*spoiler alert* ): - They *definitely* got the pig-sex idea from Black Mirror.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ - All the actors were very good in their roles, however I must say that it was Hugh Grant who stole the show. #movie #film #moviereview #filmreview #cinema #thegentlemen #guyritchie #5stars #actionmovie #2020 #january #january2020

Film review: The Gentlemen A British drug lord tries to sell off his highly profitable empire to a dynasty of Oklahoma billionaires. Guy Ritchie returns to the crime gangster world after his underwhelming remake of a beloved classic disney film. He returns with a style of film he is best at. One thing amazing about his films is the energy and liveliness to them and this film is no exception. The killer soundtrack, and the talented cast combined with proper British humour provides a good time at the cinema. Colin Farrel was easily my favourite as he had some of the best lines. Some of the monologues by Matthew McConaughey were brilliantly executed since he is brilliant, and some of the dialogues(mainly from Charlie Hunnam's and Hugh Grant's characters ) were hilarious. The unique blend of dark-comedy, and gory action is just amazing to watch. The style in this film felt kind of similar to Knives Out, how every characters storyline is connected to a certain crime and you are unravelling all the mysteries. However in this film, it is not done as well. Although it was not confusing and a few plot-twists were shocking, some felt predictable to me and did not give me as much of an impact. It is just a few characters were given so much notice and attention yet did not offer much by the end. Guy's direction is great but there were a few scenes in the film that just did not surprise or give me as much emotion as it should have done. Overall, a great film that does distract itself sometimes and forget what it is, but still a wonderful time at the cinema and an exciting return by Guy Ritchie which is why I gave it an 8/10 #thegentlemen #guyritchie #matthewmcconaughey #charliehunnam #hughgrant #bugzymalone #britishfilm #2020movies #2020film #2020review #movies #film #review #moviereview #filmreview #2020

MESSAGE/UPDATE to my Charlie Hunnam and King Arthur fans! Not sure how many of you saw, but in an interview last week Charlie Hunnam said that he'd like to get back to King Arthur. He said they had planned to make several movies and that he loved the legend and thought there was a lot more story to tell. This is BIG for the petition (as his interview is being shared on several entertainment websites ). Now's the time to make this happen! Share, share, share the petition! Let's boost the signature count and show Charlie Hunnam, Guy Ritchie, and the rest of the cast that they have enough support for a sequel! Let's make this happen!! https://www.change.org/p/warner-brothers-base-the-fate-of-the-king-arthur-legend-of-the-sword-movie-franchise-on-viewer-ratings #kingarthurlegendofthesword #kingarthursequelpetition #kingarthur #guyritchiefilm #charliehunnam #charlie #hunnam #jaxteller #jacksonteller #sonsofanarchy #sonsofanarchyfans #jax #soa #guyritchie #king #excalibur #theswordinthestone #knightsoftheroundtable #actionfilm #fantasyfilm #perfection #photooftheday #love #actor #warnerbros #signthepetition #makeithappen

THE GENTLEMEN (2020 ) Welcome back, Guy Ritchie. Let’s keep this short and simple, shall we? The writer/director isn’t exactly creating something bold and original here, but it’s still a top notch effort nonetheless. That’s due to an incredible cast all delivering good work most notably Hugh Grant and a HILARIOUS Colin Farrell (a bit involving a pig is both so wrong yet so funny just with Farrell’s facial expressions alone ), Ritchie’s handling of the material which dials back his usual frenetic style to tell a more serious story while still being self-referential, and a screenplay that contains plenty of fun twists and turns as you might expect as well as some dialogue that’s as sharp and as funny as anything Ritchie has done before. If you’re a fan of his crime/comedy classic “Snatch” or the criminally underrated “RocknRolla”, “The Gentlemen” sees the writer/director playing to his strengths and showing he still has plenty of skill when it comes to the gangster comedy genre. I just hope he doesn’t take too long before giving us another film that’s as entertaining as this one. I’m going to give it a B+.

Tonight I went to see the new Guy Ritchie film “The Gentlemen” and all I can say is Guy Ritchie is back... and oh how I have missed him. “The Gentelmen” is the Guy Ritchie of old, the Ritchie we all fell in love with years ago. It seems the pattern is, if you sell out to Disney and give them a film that makes make a billion, another studio will rewarded you with a riskier original film of your own. Taika Waititi went this route and created “Jojo Rabbit” after “Thor: Ragnarok,” Faverau did “Chef” after his “Iron Man” films and so on... . Ritchie seemed to fallen into a hole over the last 10 years and buried himself in the dirt that is the Hollywood system where they abused his style and humor to rebrand old ideas such as the “Sherlock” films, “The Man From Uncle,” tried building a franchise with his 7 film “King Arthur” series that died after the first film and finally had him remake the Disney classic “Aladdin” into a live action mess. Finally he has crawled his way out of the pit and made a new original film and what a welcome back it is. . “The Gentlemen” is Ritchie at his absolute best. He has created another hilarious, offensive UK action packed ganster film filled with fast talking, wise cracking, witty characters only Ritchie could create. We are taken on a wild ride with twists and turns that has his audience guessing until the very end. Though every actor in this movies shines, none as bright as Colin Farrell. Like Pitt in “Snatch” this is the role that steals the show. Farrell is absolutely brilliant and all the more comfortable in his native Irish tongue talking shit and spitting jokes that had my audience curled over from laughter. “The Gentlemen” is a great time at the movies. Spend your money. Show this film support. Let Ritchie know he can leave Disney behind. Let him keep telling his original stories. This is the Ritchie I want for the next decade.
